Gavião has four parishes (Gavião and Atalaia, Belver, Comenda and Margem) spread over an area of almost 300 km², with 3,400 inhabitants in the municipality alone. There's a Soap Museum (4 in the world!) and the Belver Museum of Blankets and Tapestries.
