Getting around by train Spain

You board wagons from the beginning of the 20th century (the line has been in service since 1912!) which run down a narrow track. The Sòller train has retained the charm of its original materials. It will take you through beautiful landscapes inaccessible by road, through the Serra de Tramuntana and the Alfàbia mountain range, from Palma to Sóller. Along the way, you will pass through thirteen tunnels (from 30 metres to 3 km long), over bridges, including the "dels cinc-ponts" viaduct with its 8-metre-high arches, and along impressive curves.

This station, unfortunately known for the attacks of 2004, is located south-east of Puerta del Sol and welcomes trains to and from the south of Spain and Portugal. From this station, you can go to almost anywhere in Spain, including Catalonia and Andalusia. There are also regional departures and suburban trains. Tickets can be bought at separate ticket offices. For the suburbs, there are machines and points of sale just before the platforms. Be careful, some regional departures are from the suburban train platforms.

This station is home to the Rodalies de la Catalunya system, between our RER and TER trains in terms of distances travelled. With regular services to Barcelona Sants, including a stop in Girona, to the south (every 20 minutes or so) and to Portbou, with a stop in Llançà, to the north. There is another link between Mataró and Portbou, with a stop in Blanes and Figueres. If you are coming from Barcelona, this is the station that takes you most to the city centre.

Trains coming from Madrid (a little more 1:00 of trip via the AVE), Segovia (approximately 40 mn), Salamanca (approximately 1:20), etc.

It takes about an hour to cover the 27 km of tracks between Palma and Sóller. The landscape of mountains and olive trees is breathtaking, visible only from the picturesque wooden carriages of this train from another era (1912). From the train station in Sóller, you can extend the experience by taking the equally charming historic streetcar to the port of Sóller. There are also tickets available for combining the train and streetcar. The price is not cheap, but it's a real trip back in time! Payment in cash.

This station is mainly served by suburban and regional trains, including the R2 line from Rodalies (towards Castelldefels, the airport, Sitges) and several regional trains towards LLeida, Valencia and Girona. It is also an important node grouping 3 lines of the Barcelona metro (L2, L3, L4). The train station is located under the Passeig de Gràcia, between the Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes and Carrer Aragó: it can be reached by several accesses.

From the main station, from which there are about twenty daily trains to Seville and Madrid, including AVE (high-speed) and AVANT (more economical) trains, several connections to Malaga, Cadiz and Barcelona. For Granada, it is necessary to change at Bobadilla. Behind this Renfe station, there is the bus station with several companies providing connections to the whole province of Córdoba and to all the capitals of the provinces of Andalusia plus Madrid, Barcelona or Valencia, Socibus company and the south of the province, Autocares carrera.

The line from Madrid to Badajoz serves Cáceres and Mérida. Regional lines connect Plasencia, Zafra, Seville.

Located in the same area as the bus station, this station regularly serves all the cities and regions of Spain. Madrid and Barcelona via AVE, high speed train.

Located in the same area as Renfe Station, it serves many cities in Spain and the entire province. Deposit and cafeteria.

This recent station now concentrates all rail traffic. To all the provincial capitals, with 3 to 10 trains per day depending on the destination. Via so-called "media distancia" trains, but also fast trains such as the Ave, the equivalent of our TGV to Madrid (about 2h30) or Barcelona (about 5h30). This station also allows you to take the cercanias, between our RER and TER trains, to reach the province of Seville, with destinations like Dos Hermanas or Utrera. Different ticket offices for the day's departures.

This is where the cercanías are taken for the province of Valencia, but also for the province of Albacete.

These trains cross the entire Costa Blanca from Alicante to Dénia. Stop in all villages. Excellent way to discover the region, if you have time. A tram (L 1) leads you to Benidorm, to go to Denia, it will be L 9, change on the same dock. Another advantage is to take your tickets inside the oars.

Located to the west of Granada, via the Avenida de la Constitución. After 10 years of construction work and numerous delays, due in part to the very particular topography of the surrounding area, the AVE, the equivalent of the TGV, arrived in Granada on June 25, 2019, on a journey from Madrid, inaugurated by Pedro Sánchez, President of the Government. With 3 daily trains to Madrid (approx. 3h30) and 1 to Barcelona. With transfers to Malaga (Antequera) and Seville (Cordoba), and direct trains via "Avant" trains. Trains to Almeria (via Guadix).

1 km southwest of the center, the train station expanded to a large shopping center and restaurants. Several direct trains for Cordoba, Seville, Valencia, Madrid (with AVE, high speed train, Talgo 200 or slower trains), Barcelona. Some trains for Algesiras (via Ronda) or Granada (via Antequera) with change to Bobadilla (via El Chorro). Cercanias, suburbs of the line for Álora/C 2 and Fuengirola-Málaga/C 1 (serving Torremolinos, Benalmádena…) leave the railway station (just leaving: Málaga C 1/C 2) or, when the work of the tramway is completed, from Puente de la Misericordia (closer to the city center: Málaga Centro). As for the project to extend line C 1 to Estepona and to link Nerja by train, it is not scheduled until 2015-2020.
