LULU KANAL
Read moreLulu is a concept that combines a furniture and decor store with a café. Set up in a former industrial space in Molenbeek, you can buy everything you need for your home and digest the bill (or be inspired), in a stylish café where you can eat and drink. The lines of their furniture have a vintage feel, and their love of natural materials, wood, velvet and wool are all suggestions for creating a soft interior. Other address: rue du Page, in the Châtelain district.
AU BON REPOS
Read moreExcept for fitted kitchens and bathrooms, you can find everything related to home furnishing in all the major brands of bedding, furniture, household linen, fabrics and wallpaper. In the heart of Brussels, it is the largest furniture store in the capital. The small business created in 1898 by Guillaume Decock and his wife now occupies 12,000 m²! Au Bon Repos also makes curtains, lays carpets and even does decoration work. Delivery and assembly guaranteed throughout Belgium.
LUNDI DI
Read more"Kitscher your life" is the motto of this 36th-degree boutique. It's located in the Marolles district, among the antique shops, but as soon as you enter this purple cocoon (in fact, as soon as you see the window), you realize that you're in a very different genre. French-fry packets and Marie virgins give the finger, cookie figurines and our grandmothers' porcelain plates are hijacked. It's fun, kitschy of course, but mostly in good taste, and a visit always puts you in a good mood.
LIJNWAADMARKT ET VRIJDAGMARKT
Read moreAntique stalls can be found in the quiet, shady streets that run alongside the cathedral and on the Lijnwaadmarkt square. An informal market where you can hunt for wonders from the Flemish past: antique furniture in the styles of the region, particularly wood, knick-knacks, ceramics, silverware, glassware - the rare specimen of a gift to offer on your return from Belgium! Another market offering the same type of garage sale items is Friday's Vrijdagmarket.
BOREAL
Read moreAs the name suggests, the Scandinavian spirit of hygge floats over this decorating boutique. We are in a minimalist but cozy spirit! Decorative objects, wall decorations, furniture...: the whole assortment comes from Belgium or Europe. If you have resisted the temptation to bring back a little something, don't hesitate to have a drink in the café, hidden at the back of the store. It is obviously very pleasant to the eyes but moreover its windows look directly on the Sambre. A real hidden gem!
COSTERMANS
Read moreTwo brothers (one an ironworker and the other a decorator) decided to create the sign near the Grand Sablon. This was in 1839. Since then, Costermans has remained in the family and the sixth generation is now in action. Its speciality is the 18th century: French furniture, antique fireplaces and accessories (Costermans has the world's largest collection of firebacks!), restoration of works of art (e.g. the gates of the Parc Royal, the Saint-Cyr Hotel...), exterior and interior lanterns...
PIET MOODSHOP - HOME
Read moreIt was supposed to be a short-lived boutique, but interior designer Christophe Verbeke's baby quickly became a success and has stayed. It has to be said that, with its air of a sorcerer's store (a former herbalist's shop whose counters and storage have been preserved), it encourages you to rummage around. You'll find everything you need for your home: the vase that amazes, the gadget that makes you smile, the home fragrance that gives character to a room, whether it's from a major brand or a new designer, books, spirits... We bet you'll fall for it?
AGAVE
Read moreA change of name and manager, but not of concept. Pushing open the door of Ave Natura is like entering a lush jungle. The effect is particularly striking on rainy days. A gentle warmth washes over you, and the green hues of the tropical plants soothe you. There are no flowers here, just plants of all kinds: huge and tiny, succulents, cacti, potted plants, under glass or in terrariums. You'll also find everything you need to spice up your plants, as well as advice on plant care and workshops.
ALAIN-MICHEL ANTIQUITÉ
Read moreWe have to talk about superlatives for this antiques showroom: the Alain-Michel house has 50 years of experience (the grandchildren of Alain-Michel Bienaimé now run the business) and the exhibition space is no less than 2,500m2! Enough to show furniture and objects from the 16th to the 18th century. As for the furniture, they are quite imposing pieces. The store's specialties are the Chesterfield armchairs, directly imported from England, and the industrial furniture that seduce with their clear lines and raw materials.
