In the center of Horta, there's a large terrace on the main square where you can sit in the sun, but also a few small tables inside. You won't be able to resist the succulent flavors of passion fruit, pineapple and chocolate, or the wonderful crepes and waffles. At lunchtime, the place offers an excellent lunch menu. Sautéed meat with island mushrooms, bacalhau gratin, goat's cheese and fig salad, everything is good and fresh daily. We love it!

Concerts and themed evenings are regularly organized to add a little spice. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and you can also enjoy cocktails lovingly prepared by the barman on duty. Pleasant staff and good value for money. If you need a break, this is the place to do it!

An original bubble-shaped structure, a vast outdoor area with a children's playground and table soccer for the older ones, this snack-bar is pleasant enough for a drink or a quick bite to eat, although it also serves more substantial dishes. The menu includes sandwiches, hamburgers... The location is perfect, just a few steps from the beach. In summer, it's the ideal place to take a break and enjoy a bite to eat. You won't want to miss this establishment - it's the only one of its kind on the island of Santa Maria.

Good sandwiches, excellent pastries, a few unpretentious dishes, but surely the most beautiful terrace in town, with its gazebo facing the Palais des Capitaines-Généraux. The perfect place for a quick lunch (the Brianda cheddar and bacon sandwich is excellent) or a sunset aperitif. In the morning, don't hesitate to ask for your takeaway order, so you can wander around the city with a good coffee and a pastéis de nata in hand. In short, perfect for a gourmet break at any time of day.

For a gourmet break in a pleasant setting. A bakery with a small room where you can have lunch on the spot. Great salads, daily specials, soups and delicious cakes for a few euros. You'll probably come for a coffee, but you won't be able to resist the mouth-watering pastries (the cheesecakes are excellent for example). There are also good home-made and local jams that you can buy on the spot. A good address at low prices. Too bad it's not open for dinner!

A charming wine bar right in the center of town. Tastefully decorated, the room is as warm as the waiters! The stone walls and wooden furniture make it feel like a real wine cellar. The menu is very well thought-out, with beers as well as tapas to nibble on. The products are rigorously selected, and we recommend the hand-cut black pork ham!

A little away from the city center, here is a small snack very practical to eat on the go and at a very low price the great classics of the genre: kebab, pizzas, burgers. Some more elaborate dishes and delicious local pastries too. Inside, on the large terrace, to take away, everything is possible.

A very pleasant café, or rather tea room, in the heart of the city. The small terrace overlooks the street, but it's a pleasant one, and the interior is a beautiful blend of wood, stone and azulejos. The decor is rather modern, with large pop paintings hanging on the walls. A few touches of green liven things up. We sit on basic tables or in cosy armchairs. You come here for a cup of tea or coffee. And to top it all off, there are some great local pastries.

On the main road, you can't miss this large blue and white building facing the sea. The interior is quite appealing, but it's the lovely terrace with its sea view that's particularly coveted when the weather's nice. On-site: light meals and snacks. The menu is exhaustive, with omelettes, hamburgers, sandwiches... All at unbeatable prices (under €10). Above the restaurant, some recently refurbished accommodation. The rooms are clean and pretty, decorated all in blue.

A small, cute restaurant decorated with plants. Every week, La Mercearia d'Angra offers homemade dishes at very reasonable prices. On the menu: salads, fresh cheese, meat and cod specialties... It's good, hearty and quick. The small room can only accommodate a few customers at a time, but it's a good opportunity to place a takeaway order for a picnic. Don't hesitate to drop into the adjoining grocery store to buy local products: wines, liqueurs, preserves...

A small vintage turquoise truck parked on a downtown square, it's impossible to miss Monica's friendly foodtruck. Here, they only serve good food: burgers and home fries with Flores cheese, crispy chicken sandwiches or a delicious chili. All of this can be accompanied by cakes and sweets that are simply amazing, or a lemonade with seasonal fruits. In the summer, a table allows you to eat in the sun. Ideal for a short break before or after a (sub)marine excursion. Think about it for breakfast, just for a drink or for lunch. You can choose from salads, hamburgers, etc. The welcome is friendly and the waiters speak English. Tourists and locals meet in a joyful and cheerful atmosphere. You have to go to the counter to place an order, then we come to serve you your dishes at the table. The terrace overlooking the port is quite pleasant. A simple address with a good price-quality ratio.

Aliança is a hybrid establishment that offers a nice hostel, but above all a well known café in Angra. Here you can enjoy excellent pastries all day long, good snacks and some cheap local dishes. In the evening, the nice patio of the establishment is very popular for a drink, especially when a soccer match is scheduled.

A small, unpretentious restaurant. Buena Vista Café is located on the esplanade overlooking the ocean, above a natural swimming pool. Terrace with a view of the sea and the island of Corvo. Here you can have a snack: pizza, hamburger... and have a drink. The owner, Pedro, is very friendly and will not fail to spend a moment with you to chat a little and to share some secrets of the island of Flores. In short, fast food at a very affordable price and in a friendly and family atmosphere.
