A good option in this city that lacks a little bit of sophisticated catering or that really follows the tourists' tastes. After all, it would be a pity to go and eat in one of the big international restaurant chains that swarm in the city center and around the castle.
CESKY PORT
Read moreThis restaurant occupies a former attic in the old town, on the banks of the Brda River. From the outside, the warmth of Cesky Port is already apparent, with its red bricks, half-timbering and small dark wooden shutters. Inside, the restaurant resembles a modernized Czech inn. The whole is very warm, and in perfect harmony. The menu is based on Czech, Polish and Bavarian specialties, with a slight twist. Many families with children visit on Sundays.
KARCZMA OBROCHTÓWKA
Read moreAn excellent address just 10 minutes from the center of Zakopane, in a quiet area somewhat removed from the city crowds. The restaurant is housed in a beautiful mountain villa dating from the late 19th century, surrounded by a magnificent garden. The decor isn't much different from most mountain restaurants in the area, but it's beautiful and the food is good. You'll find a few more locals and Poles than tourists, proof of the success of this establishment, which has made a name for itself in the eyes of the locals.
PADWA
Read moreLocated in the old town, in the cellars of an old building that has been tastefully renovated, this restaurant offers excellent Polish and regional cuisine, as well as the classic Italian food that is so popular with Poles. Another advantage of the restaurant is the large selection of red wines on the menu. As a result, it is the place to be for Friday night outings with the family or for romantic dinners, whether for the first time or for the hundredth time (partly because the choice is more limited than in the big cities).
WILLA MARTA

Of course, the restaurant is also known for its ponds where you can fish for trout, which can then be prepared on request: ready? get your rods! Excellent address.
TRZYDZIESTKA
Read moreThis restaurant in the central square of the Rynek is an iconic part of the downtown landscape. It has been on official photos and tourist souvenirs for several decades and has changed little in the meantime. In its well-situated room, set in a stylish house, it offers a range of grilled food (its specialty) with, of course, Polish dishes and a little bit of European cuisine. It is a smart option to enjoy the central square for dinner, especially in the summer season.
ZIELONA TAVERNA
Read moreFrom the outset, one is immediately seduced by its plush interior where everything is made of wood, in the characteristic manner of a dacha in the Russian countryside. The outside, with a sublime and shaded patio and a pretty green terrace, is enough to make the most undecided waver. As for the cuisine, we eat well, quite simply, with fresh dishes with Mediterranean accents (even if we are far from the sea) extremely well presented. On weekends during the summer, it is better to reserve, at the risk of finding yourself on the street!

With its original, colorful decor and the ambience of a cosy apartment with an old 1980s TV and a large bookcase, this little UFO offers a simple but well-executed menu featuring homemade soups, pierogi, rump steak, burgers and tagliatelle with pesto, for example. For dessert, the apple tart is excellent. A few tables on the terrace in fine weather.

U FLISAKA
Read moreA restaurant on a boat moored in front of the castle where you can enjoy Polish dishes on the go, especially made with fish. It also has a menu and a playground for children. Excellent address for visitors in a hurry or who don't want to bother with a long lunch break. The menu offers a small selection of dishes, and although the food is not very hearty, nor very tasty, it does the job, when the setting takes care of the rest. The prices on the other hand are somewhat high.
JOKER - FOOD & FRIENDS
Read moreJoker-Food & Friends heralds the slow transformation of Nowa Huta, which was already playing out in the shadows before the Covid, but is now coming into the open. The opening of this modern American restaurant, with its subdued lighting, leather sofas and neon decor, is for the moment a small raindrop in a large pond, but it heralds the gentrification at full gallop ahead. The restaurant is nothing more and nothing less than a slightly average American-style bistro, but in this neighborhood it has the effect of a Michelin-starred restaurant. You won't regret it.
KEBAB POD13
Read moreSometimes you just want a kebab. Despite all our common sense and the nearby zapiekanka, it's the kebab we're after. In this situation, we might as well go to the best kebab in the neighborhood, certainly the best in town. This family-run bouiboui, where you can sit if you really feel like it, serves an excellent German-style doner. You choose your meat from the three skewers, then you choose your pita (the simplest being thick and covered with flour) and finally your sauce, which is very good and really strong: don't play the hero.
HUMMUS AMAMAMUSI
Read moreThis little eatery, whose bar takes up most of the space, has conquered the hearts of the neighborhood with lightning speed. It has accomplished the feat of importing the habit of morning hummus to Krakow and converting a whole host of devotees. Although not exactly as good as back home, it's still excellent and makes for a top-quality breakfast. Of course, it's not just hummus you'll find here, and all sorts of Levantine specialities are on the menu. All in all, it's a delight from morning to night, you eat light and leave with a smile on your face.
OGNIEM I MIECZEM
Read moreA charming little address that has been in existence for almost twenty years, making the most of its pretty wooden chalet, obviously decorated in the rustic style of a mountain cottage, with its wooden walls, flowers and rural ornaments. If the name "De feu et d'acier" refers to a temple of Polish literature, it's to bring visitors back to the distant past of its recipes, immersing them in Polish and Lithuanian culinary traditions, with a wide choice of meat and game dishes.
NOTA RESTO
Read moreThis is the restaurant of chef Tomasz Leśniak, who cut his teeth for ten years at the Sheraton and is now the official chef of the Polish national soccer team. His ambition is clearly to win Michelin stars. Will he succeed? Certainly. The cuisine is excellent, particularly the steak (which would be criminal to miss), and the setting is fantastic, especially on the terrace. However, service, food and wine pairings and the sometimes crude experimental gastronomy are still lacking.
BIANCA
Read moreThis Italian bistro with a modern, sober and friendly decoration with its beige and white dominants is a good contemporary trattoria that does not inflate its bill. It is also one of the only Italian restaurants in the city to offer gluten-free pasta. Everything is good and homemade with love, especially the fresh pasta in the morning. The atmosphere is family friendly, the small terrace at the entrance of the restaurant overlooks the church of Saint Mary and the wine list (mainly Italian varietals) is skillfully composed to please the palate.
SCANDALE ROYAL
Read moreCharlotte and Scandal are neighbors and together create a small island of ease and trendy party on Szczepańsk Square. The restaurant brings above all a refined setting an original modern and catch-all menu that mixes French dishes as well as Polish or Asian specialties. This clever mix, if not very great cuisine, is successful and appreciated by the executives of the neighborhood. In the basement, the room is arranged around a stage where musicians, comedians and magicians perform once a month
KAWALERIA SZARŻA SMAKU

The dishes are carefully presented, and the atmosphere is charming and festive in the three rooms decorated with artefacts and equestrian motifs such as colourful Cossacks or hunters with trophies in hand. The menu changes with the season, but you'll always find game and vegetarian options. The restaurant is also family-friendly, with a children's menu, adapted chairs and even a dedicated play corner.
PIEROGARNIA STARY MŁYN
Read moreA successful chain offering excellent pierogi cooked to suit all tastes and sauces. The menu features all kinds of specialties and tasty dishes that could have come straight out of a real Polish grandmother's kitchen. The dishes are therefore slightly different from what you'd expect to find in traditional cuisine, with quiches, soups, salads and a wide choice of desserts. In short, you're in for a treat at this rustic restaurant, which is very popular with the locals. We recommend the specialties and the grilled pierogi.

The setting is particularly beautiful, combining wood and leather.
KONSPIRA
Read moreRestaurant and "Historical Education Center", Konspira has recreated the atmosphere of the 1980s with Soviet newspapers, political cartoons, posters and other images of the era. A beautiful exhibition, unfortunately only in Polish, explains Wrocław's role in the Solidarnosc movement. Fabulous restaurant with huge portions and cheap prices. We recommend the plate of Polish specialties to share. Large wooded garden, playground. Ask to see the "hidden room", a reconstruction of an 80s apartment.
MUZEALNA
Read moreLocated in a cellar of one of the beautiful Armenian houses in the city center, not far from the city hall, this restaurant is specialized and even rather famous ten years ago in Polish cuisine and has seen over the years many great personalities. Although its star has faded somewhat, its traditional cuisine remains formidable, mixing local specialties with Jewish and Armenian dishes on its menu. The soups in particular are delicious. We recommend it for an atmospheric dinner in town.
KORDEGARDA
Read moreThe "Guardhouse" is a restaurant-cafe on the Rynek, which you should not miss: overlooking the square, its terrace is set high up on a small shady knoll. It is very popular for good reasons. First of all, it is very pleasant. Then, its rather trendy atmosphere joins its cuisine, which is very good, especially the naleśniki. The desserts are hearty. From a certain hour, it is the only somewhat lively place in the sleepy downtown Sandomierz. A must visit for a sweet break.
POD FREDRĄ
Read moreLocated inside the town hall, this restaurant is the perfect place for a perfect introduction to traditional Polish cuisine. All the great classics are offered, the restaurant also has its own smoking room on site. Music and decor combine to create the appearance of an old Polish village. It's no coincidence that this is one of the best restaurants in the country in terms of atmosphere and immersion, even if the price is a bit of a pain in the wallet for dishes that are worth three times less elsewhere.
SETKA - BAR POLSKI LUDOWEJ
Read moreFor those nostalgic for the Communist system, this bar recreates the dining experience of the era of the People's Republic of Poland, with a twist on the local snack&vodka bar trend. The walls are lined with images of Communist Poland, and the menu is absolutely typical, with the best potato pancakes and goulash in town. There's also a wide choice of vodkas and huge portions worthy of the USSR. Very popular, not to be missed.

A second room, called Królewska, is much smaller, with just a few tables for two scattered around a bar. Finally, the third room, the Piwnica room, is more intimate and invites immersion. This establishment, which has been open for 15 years, offers French wines and high-flying dishes that are renowned in the city. The setting and dishes are luxurious and therefore more expensive than average, but not excessively so.

METROPOLITANA
Read moreWe find this modern cafe at the roundabout Mogilskie, after the opera, in a building that looks like a chalet. Pizzas, pierogis, salads: The card is diverse, but the dishes are successful and adapt to every taste. The place lends itself to a small stop to take a drink. Just steps from the Chopin hotel, it is an ideal place to take a few moments away from the bustling tourist activity of the city centre.
CHATA RYBACKA
Read moreOn the banks of a small stream, you can enjoy a large sunny terrace. The menu features a fine selection of seafood dishes. Monkfish, salmon, herring, trout, halibut... There's something for every taste, and always with quality in mind. The chef undoubtedly knows his stuff and his dishes are tasty, presented with a simplicity that contrasts with the sophisticated decor of the main dining room, which is a little designer/oriental. A very fine address, if not one of the best in town!
BAR DOBRZE
Read moreIt is a salad bar that offers traditional cuisine in a restaurant that doesn't look like much but that has recently seen its interiors renovated and gives a pleasant and bright set. On the program, a varied menu with many vegetarian dishes and high quality dishes with fresh and well prepared products. We feel a bit like at home and it's not a surprise to see many regulars going there to have a bite to eat at noon or to relax in the evening with their family. Good address that we recommend you.
D. W. MORSKIE OKO

All are very well prepared and tasty. A good address with a nice terrace in summer. The establishment also offers relatively comfortable rooms. It remains rather average overall but the region is not known for the quality of its hotel and culinary service (which is slowly changing).
