TÉLÉPHERIQUE (KOLEJKA LINOWA)

Public transport

This cable car connects the center of Zakopane to the top of Gubałówka Hill, 1,298 m in three minutes, with a 300 m difference in level. It feels a bit like cheating as you watch the groups of hikers struggle up the escarpments that you effortlessly fly over, but at the same time, not everyone has the energy, desire or physical fitness to make the three-hour climb and risk missing the sunset over the mountains.

TÉLÉSIÈGE DU MONT SZRENICA

Funiculars and cable cars

By the chairlift, the ascent lasts half an hour, and takes you 650 m higher. You can come back down on foot, or by the same means of transport if you don't have the strength. This chairlift takes you directly to the Karkonosze National Park, where the scenery is beautiful. A good way to start a hike and explore the trails from the top without getting too tired of the sometimes rough climb.

TRAM AQUATIQUE

Getting around by streetcar

Yes, you read that right, this is Krakow's water streetcar (in literal translation, anyway). You'd imagine it to have half-submerged rails and some kind of underwater train... but in reality, it's just boats that operate a total of five lines between Krakow and the Tyniec Monastery. A good alternative for those who want to combine business with pleasure and discover the Vistula. Every day, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., water streetcars run between the Kazimierz shopping center and Tyniec. Consult the timetable on the website.
