This station is located right in the city center, next to the Palace of Culture and Science. It's the heart of the city and is constantly busy, as it's located in the middle of transport lines and a shopping mall. When you get off the train, you often have to go up 2 floors to get to the central hall, signposted "Hala Główna", where there's a tourist office stand and next to it a PKP railway information desk.

The central station, under renovation since 2022, is located to the west of the center. Note that there are two stations next to each other: in the main hall, the PKP station, for long-distance and regional trains; just behind, outside, the SKM station. These are the "RER" or suburban trains, which connect with the Trójmiasto on very frequent routes. SKM tickets can be purchased at the ticket machines or in the SKM center opposite the platforms, in the same building as the PKP station (immediately to the left as you enter the platform).

TÉLÉPHERIQUE (KOLEJKA LINOWA)

Public transport

This cable car connects the center of Zakopane to the top of Gubałówka Hill, 1,298 m in three minutes, with a 300 m difference in level. It feels a bit like cheating as you watch the groups of hikers struggle up the escarpments that you effortlessly fly over, but at the same time, not everyone has the energy, desire or physical fitness to make the three-hour climb and risk missing the sunset over the mountains.

GARE ROUTIÈRE (DWORZEC AUTOBUSOWY)

Means of transport

The bus station is located right next to the train station. The bus is a good way to get to Zakopane from Krakow. Several lines connect the city at regular times for a journey of around 3 hours, if you count the systematic traffic jams on the approach to the city. City buses serve almost all the starting points for Tatra hikes: visit the tourist office in the train station.

GARE CENTRALE (DWORCEK PKP - LUBLIN GŁÒWNY)

Train

The Lublin train station is very beautiful, a memory of a better time when it was an important stopover on the way to the Polish East, now the Ukrainian West. Daily trains leave to Zamość (3 hours), Warsaw (2.5 hours), Kraków (4.5 hours), Kiev (19 hours) and Wrocław (8 hours), with some international trains to Berlin and Vienna. The station is located in the south of the city, about 15 minutes' walk from the city center. GARE ROUTIÈRE (DWORZEC CENTRALNY PKS)

Bus station

Located just behind the train station, it copies its neighbor and is not as embarrassing as it was when it was in disrepair. There are many buses to the towns in the area as well as to the main destinations in Poland. It is well located, between streetcar lines and the regional train, in a real modern interconnected hub (certainly more convenient than in Western European capitals). 15 minutes walk from the city center.

TRAM AQUATIQUE

Getting around by streetcar

Yes, you read it right, this is the Krakow water streetcar (at least in literal translation). You might think of it as half-submerged rails and a kind of underwater train... but in reality it's just boats that operate a total of five lines between Krakow and the Tyniec Monastery. This is a good alternative for those who want to combine business with pleasure and discover the Vistula. Every day, from 10 am to 5 pm, streetcars on the water connect the Kazimierz shopping center to Tyniec. See the schedule on the website.
