BORISA
Read moreAlthough not the largest or most beautiful, Borisa's temple remains pleasant. The main hall has interesting wooden bas-reliefs. You can take a path on the right (beware it slips) that climbs to a stone bas-relief representing the Buddha of the future surrounded by flames dating from the 8th century. A path on the left leads us a little higher to a large rock carved on its 4 sides with several Buddhist bas-reliefs from Silla. We will also notice the engraved pagodas, unique in their kind.

UNDERWATER TOMB OF KING MUNMU
Read moreThis underwater royal tomb is unique in the world and has a beautiful history as its origin. It is the one of the 30th king of Silla, the great king Munmu (661-681). He gave instructions to rest in the sea so that he could protect the country from Japanese invaders by turning into a dragon. Unfortunately, it is very disappointing, because there is nothing to see, the tomb being underwater, in the middle of a rock quite far from the shore. We will just remember this king's love for his country.
BOMUNSA TEMPLE
Read moreIt is said that this temple was built by a queen of Silla (Seondeok) in 635. Close to a juniper tree 6 times a century old, you can explore Seokgulamja, a small Buddhist temple inside a cave. Back outside, we admire the estate's flagship attraction: the 10-metre high bas-relief on which is engraved a representation of the deity of compassion Gwanse-eum. The climb is quite steep and steep but it is worth it because in addition to the cultural aspect, this place offers visitors a magnificent view.

PALDAMUN GATE
Read moreThis half-moon shaped gate is the most famous of the gates that belong to Hwaseong Fortress. This is the south door which has the peculiarity of being independent, detached from the rest of the structure. It's quite confusing though fascinating to see that nowadays it is used as a roundabout. This former guard platform has characteristics specific to western castles (battlements and loopholes). Just on its side, you can see a plaque with all the names of those who participated in its construction
