The name of this temple of Kashmiri gastronomy is a play on words referring to Chor Bazaar, the "thieves' market". It is true that the décor of the establishment, half flea market and half antique store, resembles a certain cave prized by forty thieves. Here, you can discover the ritual of the wazwan, a farandole of 36 dishes to be tasted in good company. For a more digestible overview, we recommend the buffet. Located near the train station, on the main street, Amberwalla is a good place to try some South Indian specialties or to enjoy a hearty thali. Only good vegetarian dishes are served in this air-conditioned room. Located on the terrace of a hotel, a little away from the city, this restaurant is nevertheless worth your visit. The food is really delicious and the prices are quite moderate. The chef worked for several years in Japan, before coming back home to Khajuraho. The products are ultra-fresh and the dishes are prepared to order, which is why you will have to wait a little. You can choose to eat outside, on the pleasant roof terrace laid out like an urban garden, or in the air-conditioned dining room with its contemporary setting.

We eat very well and prices are not exaggerated. Dosas dosas are particularly copious and delicious. The best address of the city. On the other hand, the hotel, very noisy, is not up to the height.

Kwality is located near the Mall Road Shopping Market. It lacks a touch of decoration, but the place is still comfortable with its booths and armchairs. The place is well kept. The staff is friendly, which makes up for it. The food is good and the choice is vast: burgers, pizzas, sizzlers, but also good traditional Indian cuisine. At the end of the meal they will even bring you a bowl of hot lemon water to wash your hands! This unpretentious address is one of the best options in Dalhousie.

The restaurant Kalimpong is a small family establishment not to be missed! Small room, few tables, we are a little tight but there is a comforting human warmth. Smiling reception and fast service. Open since 1962, Makhan is an iconic restaurant in the city. A large, somewhat impersonal room welcomes customers. On the menu, as you might expect, are fish and chicken specialties. Recipes cooked in the tandoor, such as chicken malai tikka, mutton tikka, or fish Sangara tandoori, are all the rage. The establishment also serves alcohol, so you can accompany your meal with a cold beer. Not to be confused with the Makhan Hut.

The restaurant of the Spice Village Resort is a little wonder. A minimalist menu, which is usually a good sign, and a very fine cuisine, elaborated mostly with organic products from the plantations of the establishment. The setting is pleasant and romantic, with musicians playing while you dine. It is also an opportunity to taste Indian wine, and why not accompany your meal with a fresh Sula Chenin blanc. To finish the meal, ask the waiter to taste one of the local infusions, the specialty of the place.

The cuisine of the South is once again in the contemporary and romantic restaurant of the Taj Deccan Hotel. Seafood lovers will be tempted by the Vepudu Chtpel. The specialties of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, with passion, without unnecessary fat, will convince others.

The ceiling is very very high, palm trees and a carp pond as well as a huge fresco complete the decor. A pianist plays western folk music in a corner. A large buffet offers a wide range of Indian and continental dishes every day, a multitude of appetizing desserts. A la carte, you will have the opportunity to order more refined dishes, some from fusion cuisine. The majority of the clientele is composed of businessmen and diplomats. The service is impeccable.

This neighbourhood canteen, famous for its chutneys and pickles, offers unbeatable prices. No exoticism or completeness in the menu, but the basic flavours of Gujarat cuisine which is served without fuss in a very friendly atmosphere of bric-a-brac and broc. You will be able to revel in a thali gujarati or a plate of dhokla, a very old recipe based on crushed chickpeas and a paste made from fermented rice.

With its wood panelling, velvet benches and subdued lighting, this restaurant has a false air of a London pub. But when it comes to the menu, you're in India! It offers a wide range of northern specialties, including solid kebabs, as well as a few Chinese starters. The lack of competition in the Civil Lines area causes a slight sloppiness in the plate. It's certainly good, but not exciting, especially at this price. Decent choice of wine, including imported wines and a very nice cocktail list, to be consumed with moderation!

If you have not yet visited the capital of West Bengal, the cuisine served here is an excellent introduction. Fish specialties such as bekti are as fresh as they are fragrant. The kosha manhsho, a lamb curry, is also worth trying. For dessert, you can try the payesh, a kind of pudding with a strange texture, which is very digestible with tea. The service is professional, the setting refined and peaceful. If you have some money left at the end of your stay, don't hesitate to spend it here

Between two shopping trips, this small vegetarian café has a cosy atmosphere with its wooden tables and wicker armchairs. You can enjoy an Indian, Chinese or continental dish at a reduced price. Paneer tikka and vegetable pakora are good for a simple snack while the festa special thali satisfies the big appetite. The milkshakes and lassi are so creamy that you can finish them with a spoon! As far as hygiene is concerned, no worries: the waiters sing while passing the sponge on the tables and, behind his counter, the old manager watches over the grain.

With this restaurant, named in honor of Nehru, begins the corner of Mughal specialties. If some people prefer it to its competitor Karim's, it is because it is less crowded but mostly because it belongs to a family of butchers who choose better, it seems, the pieces of meat... Here, each meal has its own dish: at breakfastthe egg curry, at lunch the mutton nihari, while at dinner it's time for the very spicy kebabs. However, for the more accustomed palates, the biryani is not up to the mark.

This strictly vegetarian restaurant is located within the gigantic Lotus Temple complex, on the edge of ISKCON Temple Road. No need to venture too far to find it. The cuisine served is based on the repertoire of the south of the country and works wonders with simple ingredients. The saatvik khana prepared with garlic, onions and eggs is a success, as is the generous vegetarian thaliflavored with 56 spices. You will surely share your table with some Krishna devotees.

If there's a queue in front of this little sign, nothing could be more normal: it's the ransom of success! The kekabs and rolls are so good that they deserve a little patience. The concept includes roasts or bread patties stuffed with vegetables or marinated meats. We advise you to succumb to the chicken tikka roll unless a big hunger leads you to a biryani. The purists have found fault with the purchase of this canteen by the Mughlai chain. They take refuge in the nearby Rule The Rolls, which is run by the sons of Khan Chacha.

This cozy two-story establishment is located just off the Manali traffic circle, along the Mall. The setting is modern and warm, with lots of woodwork. The menu offers international specialties, from Thai Pad kra pao to Indonesian Nasi goreng , a delicious lamb burger and Manali's specialty, trout. The dishes are tasty. One drawback however: the portions are not very copious... Friendly service.

Opened since 2009, this restaurant still holds the top spot and is considered by many to be the best restaurant in the capital. The chef, who has learned his trade in the great hotels of Asia, revisits Indian cuisine by pulling it upwards. Here, the combinations of spices are subtle, the cooking perfectly mastered and the flavours confusing, but exciting. Up a flight of stairs overlooking Ganga Mahal Ghat, this small restaurant attracts many travelers who settle in Varanasi for a while. Ashish's family lives here and has set up a room and a veranda on the first floor. The food is simple, delicious and prepared with fresh ingredients. It is one of the best places in the city for excellent thalis. The address is signposted from the ghat, and you'll have no trouble spotting the bright blue house with flower pots in front.

Don't let the unwelcoming entrance put you off, because this is a very good restaurant. Two large, dark, windowless rooms are always welcoming Indian families looking for a good South Indian vegetarian dish. Like most restaurants in Bundi, this one came out of nowhere and is located on the roof of a building. After climbing the steep stairs, you will enjoy a rather extraordinary view of the city. The result surprises positively: well-made sauces, crispy pizzas, pepper mill, hot oil and dried oregano. A good address if you feel like a change from Indian cuisine.

One of the oldest restaurants in the city. On the first floor there is a cafe, where snacks and pastries are served. On the upper floors, the tavern, which offers a wide choice of correct dishes but at prices well above average, as well as alcohol, wine and beer. The Indian recipes are excellent, especially those cooked in the tandoor which are the specialty of the place. The setting is resolutely mountainous with woodwork. Sports events broadcast on the screens even give it an Irish pub feel.

A stylish restaurant very much appreciated by the golden youth, which we warmly recommend. Excellent Indian and continental dishes. At Mocambo, you are definitely not in India anymore: the chic and cozy setting first surprises you, then the specialties of the house take you far away from the Ganges. Seafood, crab, lobster are on the menu, as well as beef! Service with the small care. An elegant address recommended.

Impossible to miss the door of the entrance of this restaurant with the doorman proudly displaying a majestic glossy moustache and a suit worthy of the greatest Rajput warriors. Inside, the setting is kitschy. A dark pirate cave atmosphere, a tree planted in the center of a pasteboard rock, 3D murals, shards of mirrors and adobe walls decorated with naïve paintings mix genres. However, the restaurant serves excellent North Indian cuisine with tasty curries and spicy kebabs.

The Taj Mahal, with its image of luxury and excellence, is going all out. The setting mixes sumptuous pieces of ancient art with modern furniture and lighting. A bench runs along the wall of the room, while on the other side there are "corners" for 6. A must to get acquainted with the cuisine of the country or simply to enjoy dishes that have been forgotten elsewhere. The service is efficient, but you often have to be patient.

Not so easy to find a nice restaurant around Connaught Place without loud music. Fortunately, a few nostalgic Hyderabad biryani lovers have opened this canteen on the outer circle. No fuss for this little address, but a setting that follows the codes in vogue at the moment: a touch of industrial, school chairs and old tiles. Located on the slopes of Shymala Hills, this restaurant is part of a hotel complex owned by the Madhya Pradesh Tourist Board. If the cuisine it offers is not very original, it is well executed. You will find the classic mutter or palak paneer, dhal, butter chicken as well as some tasty kebabs and tandooris. The establishment is licensed and you can sip a beer or a whisky - in moderation - while watching the lake.

The restaurant of the Zone by the Park hotel, located in the north of Bani Park, serves many western and eastern specialties to satisfy its international clientele. But it also offers a short selection of Rajasthani specialties that are worth a visit. You will find them under the selection "khammaghani". Here, the gulab jamun is served in a savory version in a thick cashew sauce. If you prefer the non-vegetarian option, you can enjoy a tasty Shekhawati chicken.

A tasty experience to recommend to all lovers. Beware, the restaurant is not easy to find. It is on the other side of the fortress. It is better to go by cab if you don't have a car with driver.
