In Mauritius, the Mauritius Marine Conservation Society is associated with the Mauritius Underwater Group to form the Marine Conservation Management Consortium (MCMC). The objective of this union: carry out broader actions for the defence and protection of the marine environment and have more weight with the government and other international bodies. First project to obtain substantial funding from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Ministry of the environment of Mauritius: the installation of permanent buoys for anchoring vessels at dive sites.
