In Mauritius, the Mauritius Marine Conservation Society is associated with the Mauritius Underwater Group to form the Marine Conservation Management Consortium (MCMC). The objective of this union: carry out broader actions for the defence and protection of the marine environment and have more weight with the government and other international bodies. First project to obtain substantial funding from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Ministry of the environment of Mauritius: the installation of permanent buoys for anchoring vessels at dive sites. The association should also continue the former MUG conservation works and MMCS: establishing artificial reefs by sinking old vessels, putting pressure on the government to prohibit (or at least limit) underwater shotgun hunting, shellfish and coral harvesting, explosive fishing, carrying out projects on certain species, developing new marine parks, etc. If you want to encourage marine conservation in Mauritius, you can join this association.

A regional network, comprising women entrepreneurs from Madagascar, Seychelles, Réunion, Mauritius, Mayotte and Comoros, was put in place at the initiative of the association and following the seminar that brought together representatives of these islands in April 2007. The network aims to promote trade and develop partnerships in the trade, cultural, social and training fields. To date, the association has 150 members and its office is located at Mont Lubin. It has a kiosk in Port Mathurin where the products of its members are marketed.
