Most of the bars are open from Monday to Saturday, until 10 pm. After that, it's best to head for the few nightclubs in town!

Budget & Tips

Prices are very affordable: count 30 NAD for a beer, 50 for a cocktail with or without alcohol. Credit cards are accepted almost everywhere, but don't forget the 10% tip (sometimes it's better to leave it in cash, to make sure the waiter gets it)!

Age restrictions

The consumption of alcohol is authorized for adults, i.e. over 18 years of age. You may be asked for identification at the entrance to the bars, a copy may be sufficient.

What's very local

The gin & tonic is undoubtedly THE alcoholic drink of southern Africa, ask for it with a slice of cucumber! For those who have to drive, go for the rock shandy, a drink made with lemonade and angostura. Its variant, the Malawi shandy, is made with ginger beer: excellent!
