ANCHORS WATERFRONT RESTAURANT
Read moreLocated in the marina right in front of the sea, this restaurant is specialized in fresh fish and seafood. Besides the delicious oysters from the lagoon (you have to like them milky and Namibians like to add tabasco to them), they serve good calamari, fish & chips and sometimes even sushi and sashimi, as well as salads for lunch and you can have breakfast just before a marine safari. Good value for money.
THE TUG
Read moreThis restaurant has a very good reputation and for good reason: housed in the hull of a boat on the beach, it is one of the must-see places in town. It serves excellent oysters and seafood dishes. It is also famous for its magnificent sunsets that can be seen from the terrace just above the waves. The setting comes at a price, but the food is very good, and even better since the change of ownership in 2019. Add to that the attentive staff and you're guaranteed a great time.
KÜCKI’S PUB
Read moreEstablished in 1981, Kücki's Pub is undoubtedly one of the most German bars in Swakopmund. It's hard to believe you're in Africa when you walk through the doors of this establishment. But that's what Namibia's all about, isn't it? The place is very appreciated and is a good address to have a drink or to taste a (very) copious dish in a colourful and friendly atmosphere. On the menu, seafood and grilled game with large portions of chips or vegetables. Good onion soup is also on the menu. A few concerts are sometimes held.
JOE’S BEERHOUSE
Read moreThis labyrinthine restaurant with a wacky decoration, offers a room inside and many tables outside under huge thatched roofs, around large fires. Despite its size, it has managed to preserve a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, a mix of German beergarten and American saloon. Yet it is the local game that is in the spotlight! Excellent grilled meat dishes are served here, such as the tasty oryx, crocodile, ostrich, zebra and kudu skewers. A must, but book in advance!
THE RAFT
Read moreBuilt on stilts in the heart of the lagoon, the Raft is a fish restaurant very popular with locals, and we understand them! It is certainly an address with higher-than-average prices but with a splendid view and impeccable quality (local products cooked in the European way). We particularly recommend the hula-hula, a small coconut fish casserole that is absolutely exquisite. There is also a bar area and a very friendly pizzeria. In the evening, you can see sea lions frolicking in the lighted water and pelicans swimming.
LA MARMITE ROYALE
Read moreMartial, the owner of the old Marmite is originally from Cameroon and has many years of experience in the restaurant business. He joined forces with Cafe Zoo to concoct his Marmite Royale and to make your taste buds vibrate to the rhythm of a varied local cuisine. He mixes the flavours of the continent, Angola, Namibia, Cameroon, with a French touch. This does not detract from the famous Cafe Zoo, where you can enjoy a wide range of teas, coffees, pies and cocktails on the peaceful terrace overlooking the park. When two establishments join forces, it's royal!
CRAFT CAFE
Read moreThe Namibia Crafts Center's coffee shop is nice for a coffee break or a quick lunch on the go after or before shopping for souvenir gifts. The food is cheap but of high quality and hearty. The home-cooked cuisine at the center offers good muffins, a delicious apple crumble and vegetarian (or Lorraine) quiches to accompany a celery, apple, ginger and parsley shake or lemonade. An address that rarely disappoints and very practical in the city centre. Possibility to park on a guarded car park.
KUBATA RESTAURANT
Read moreTypical Portuguese family restaurant, much appreciated by the locals. Fish and seafood specialities, traditional Portuguese recipes or recipes inspired by Angolan, Brazilian and Mozambican cuisine. The restaurant offers oysters direct from Walvis Bay and other seafood freshly caught along the Namibian coast. South African and of course Portuguese wines are also on the menu. The portions are generous, so you can quickly become bigger than your belly!
