Organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Cuban Music Institute, this jazz festival has been gathering Cuban jazz cream since 2007. The famous pianist Jesús "Chucho" Valdés chairs this musical event.

Founded in 1852 in honour of Lafayette by Haitian slaves, inspired by the dances (minuet) of their French masters, implanted in the region in the early th century.
