Housed in the former ^18th-century Béldi Palace, this dynamic institute organizes a wide range of cultural events in addition to its French courses: concerts, shows, lectures, a French film festival in May, the Clujotronic digital arts festival at the end of September... It also boasts a well-stocked media library, as well as an exhibition space dedicated to contemporary art, called "La Cave", in a vaulted brick hall. The venue mainly exhibits works by young Romanian artists (photography, painting, ceramics, etc.).

It is the diplomatic representation of the French Republic in Romania. The Embassy has been headed by Ambassador Laurence Auer since 2020.
