GALERIE TOWN HOUSE
Read moreThis large shed, which you wouldn't suspect from the outside, is a resolutely open place. Artist residences, temporary exhibitions, performances, cultural workshops, conferences: it is a place of life and passage constantly animated. Its small gallery will suit all tastes and all budgets: there are piles of sketches, large wall paintings, handcrafted objects and jewellery, books and old photographs. A very good address also to find artistic postcards that stand out from the crowd.
LOFT
Read moreThis decoration shop belongs to a young boy who has managed to give taste to his sales space where he presents decorative objects and especially furniture of oriental inspiration that one would like to be able to collect at home. If a reproduction of Gayer Anderson's daybed can't fit in your luggage (make an effort!), let yourself be tempted by the traditional Turkish-inspired trays. Special feature: there are also objects to be hunted. Stay there for a while, with the cat on your knees, you will probably be offered a masbout coffee.
NAGADA
Read moreThis is the very chic shop of ethnic clothing that foreigners wear in Cairo. The fabrics are made in Nagada, between Luxor and Qena. The cotton or silk materials are very neat, the colours deep. You have to like the ample style: thin women swim in it, but it allows those who wear "looser" to feel comfortable. A few soft trousers and shirts are available for men. Fayum pottery is also sold here. This elegant shop is also... expensive. A real "bobo" address in Cairo.
AZZA FAHMY
Read moreAzza Fahmy's jewellery is the ideal of quality and creativity that women in love with oriental jewellery are looking for. In gold or silver, with precious or semi-precious stones, the unique pieces are superb. For gentlemen, original cufflinks are designed by the designer. This family business, founded in 1969, is now internationally renowned. The designer's talents have even been called upon by the British Museum to reproduce pharaonic jewellery for certain exhibitions.
