The Association pour l'encouragement de la musique improvisée (AMR) was founded in 1973 by Geneva musicians involved in the jazz and improvised music scene. Since then, the AMR and its musical center, the "Sud des Alpes", have offered a regular and highly acclaimed musical program from mid-September to mid-June, jam sessions every Tuesday, and an annual festival (the AMR Jazz Festival in spring and the AMR at Les Cropettes at the end of June).

Read moreJazznojazz is Switzerland's leading jazz event, with around twenty concerts a year. November 2024 will see the 24th edition of this long-awaited festival at the Gessnerallee and the ZKB club. On the program: jazz and pop names, established artists and promising youngsters. Some of the biggest names in music have already come to Zurich: John McLaughlin, Ashley Henry... For a bite to eat, you'll find the Reithall Gessnerallee restaurant, offering creative cuisine in a warm atmosphere.

Located under the Mon-Repos park, this jazz club is a very convivial address where the greatest musicians as well as lesser-known groups come to play. You enter the first room, where you'll find the bar and a few tables for refreshments before the concert begins. Often seated at the next table, the musicians then take to the stage, while spectators descend a few steps and take their places around the tables, ordering a glass of wine.
