CINÉMA LE ROYAL

It's so good to have a movie in one of the rare human-sized cinemas that still exist in our beautiful country! But who says small, does not say under-equipped: 285 places and 7 places for wheelchairs (which do not always exist in the multiplexes!), balcony of 92 places, comfort seats, Dolby Digital system, surround EX to THX standards (for the experts), all this in an atmosphere to the "Grand Rex" with blue night decoration and starry sky. The Royal has everything of a great one, the charm and the conviviality in more.

Like most small cinemas, with a human size, the theater theater of Chateau-Thierry shows a beautiful programming side. There are many author films, which sometimes do not even go to the multiplexes of large cities. Moreover, prices are attractive. The 7 th Art Card, for example, at € 10, allows you to enjoy all the art and test films at the single price of € 4,60. The hall also plans opera, and regularly organizes animations.

CINÉMA DE MASSEUBE

1 review

This cinema is splendid, because the room was built in the chapel of the old convent. An atypical site for a quality cultural output and if the festival animation is so rich in rural areas, it is certainly thanks to the association Cinema 32 that does not spare its efforts to be at top! In Masseube, she still works in this place where we love weekly animation sessions, especially for children under 13 years of age (and their parents!) but also the eclectic programming that goes from popular cinema to authors'movies. If national exits are present with the release of recent films, some older masterpieces return regularly to the screen. Don't miss anything by following the program on the site's answering machine, because in summer there are many special evenings.

As far as we are concerned, we are far from the excessive multiplexes that are projecting only general public films, and show little interest in more intimate works. Taken over by the CGR group, which already has a multiplex near the Cité de la Mer, the Odeon cinema is located in the heart of the city, almost opposite the swing bridge and the commercial basin. Recently renovated, with 5 beautiful rooms for a total of 1,025 seats, it offers a program ranging from mainstream films to more intimate feature films. This cinema, with its stormy history, often threatened with closure, has thus become once again one of the must-see places for the city's moviegoers. We highly recommend this nice place!

The Arvor cinema has been given a makeover in early 2021 by moving into one of the three Identity towers located directly next to the train station. It now has 5 rooms, the largest of which can accommodate up to 340 spectators. While keeping its Art et Essai programming line, this new Arvor will be able to offer more films and therefore expose (and enhance) the diversity of independent cinema. It is also easier to organize events and special evenings: debates, meetings, previews, thematic programs... as well as the now famous Sunday Night Film (once or twice a month), which is an opportunity to see or re-see on the big screen a lovingly selected cult film. The reception, with its decoration made of visible raw materials (wood, concrete columns...) also has a coffee area to wait pleasantly before a film or to debrief passionately with friends at the end of a session.

A fan of the 70 s and the films of Godard, Truffaut and co, welcome to the Grand Action, the establishment that loves the classics. Founded in 1970, this film belonged to the Action network, which proposed a policy of classic film reproductions in new copies in four cinemas (Action Schools, Studio des Grands-Augustins, Action Christine and Grand Action). Since then, two halls have broadcast exclusive American and classic films. The largest room, Henri Langlois (dedicated to the founder of the French Cinémathèque), is absolutely magnificent, with a screen of 10 metres and 223 seats arranged in a drawer. This downtown cinema offers a rich program. The big advantage is that you can watch foreign films in their original language. Enthusiasts can receive the week's program by e-mail, simply by providing their address. Some popular films are nevertheless distributed here, especially those aimed at children. Personalities and associations are on hand when a feature film is being debated. The size of the auditoriums (40 to 184 seats) is adapted to the expected attendance. Access is via Place des Comtes-du-Maine (an elevator in a glass box for the disabled) or via Avenue du Général-de-Gaulle (stairs). An address to remember for fans of authentic arthouse cinema, far from the popcorn counter or 3D glasses!

Located in the area of Paris with the most significant changes in recent years, the last-born of the UGC range is open since October at the very location of the former Claude Bernard Hospital, closed in the 1990 s. In years, it's a quarter that has literally transformed itself from the state of wasteland to the very popular place of life. It was therefore normal for a UGC cinema to come into this relatively dépourvu place. With 14 rooms and more than 2 800 seats, the place is a large area covered with a fine metal jacket giving it a chic and sober appearance.
