Detail of the stay : Manu National Park Cultural 3 Days / 2 Nights - 3 days
DAY 01: Cuzco - Bambú Lodge
Steps: Parque Nacional Del Manú
Early in the morning, pick-up from your hotel in Cusco, to begin our journey through the Andes mountains, beautiful landscapes, folkloric rural communities such as Paucartambo and Ninamarca (chullpas or burial tombs) that belong to the pre-Inca LUPACAS culture. We then reach the last mountain of Acjanaco, the entrance to MANU NATIONAL PARK, from where we descend to the lush cloud forest, home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. This is an ideal spot for epiphytes, orchids, bromeliads and more.
We'll have a picnic lunch, then walk along an inka trail that belonged to the antisuyo. Then we'll continue exploring the cloud forest and enjoy Peru's national bird, the colorful Rock Rooster in its courtship ritual, as well as toucans, trogons, quetzals and monkeys. We may also see the South American spectacled bear (Tremantus ornatos).
Continuing our tour, we head for Patria, a small village in the Amazon, and arrive at our first lodge. Finally, we'll have dinner and free time to enjoy cold drinks and then spend the night in our comfortable rooms.
DAY 02: Patria - Cocha Machuwasi
Steps: Parque Nacional Del Manú
After breakfast, we'll explore the Amazon rainforest and visit a coca plantation. Afterwards, we can opt for an alternative activity: rafting 8 km down the Pilcopata River or visiting the Hinkiori petroglyphs. After lunch, we'll board our boat and sail for 40 minutes on the Alto Madre de Dios River to visit the Cocha Machuwasi.
In this small lake, we'll observe a wide variety of birds and animals, such as herons, hawks, ducks, hoazins, oropendolas, families of capybaras and more. After a hike along the Monkey Trail, we'll sail upstream and sample some of the fruits from the region's plantations before returning to our comfortable rooms.
In the evening, we'll take a night hike with opportunities to spot snakes, caimans, capybaras, tarantulas and other nocturnal animals, followed by a campfire and toast.
DAY 03: Machuwasi - Atalaya
Steps: Parque Nacional Del Manú
After breakfast, we cross the river by boat to visit the Hummingbird Garden before heading for the imperial city of Cusco. We'll cross the cloud forest again to see as many of the region's species as possible before arriving in the city of Cusco at around 4.00 pm.
