Day 1: San Francisco

Welcome to San Francisco, the most European (and most tolerant) of American cities.

San Francisco has so much to offer... To begin your stay, why not go to the top floor of the De Young Museum, where you can enjoy the best view of the city?

And a tour of Alcatraz prison at nightfall is a truly exceptional experience.

Day 2: San Francisco

Be sure to ride the famous cable car early in the morning to avoid the crowds: a truly iconic San Francisco experience.

Take the children to watch the sea lions at Fisherman's Wharf or the marine animals at the Bay Aquarium.

And at the end of the day, why not walk across the Golden Gate Bridge? The bridge at sunset is a truly magical moment!

Day 3: San Francisco / Yosemite (315 km)

Steps: Yosemite National Park

Today's destination is Yosemite National Park, rightly considered a true jewel of the great American parks.

Set out along the beautiful scenic roads of California. You will travel from the Pacific Ocean to the mountains of the Sierra Nevada.

Begin with the Yosemite Valley section of the park. An easy 30-minute walk (round-trip) along the trail to Lower Yosemite Falls leads to postcard-worthy scenery.

Day 4: Yosemite

Steps: Yosemite National Park

This morning, head back towards the valley and turn right at the first intersection to reach Tunnel View.

This scenic viewpoint offers a breathtaking panorama with views of Bridalveil Fall, Half Dome and El Capitan.

Finally, don't miss the impressive, winding drive to Glacier Point, which has arguably the most spectacular views in the park.

Day 5: Yosemite / Mammoth Lakes (317 km)

Steps: Mammoth Lakes

Your destination today is Mammoth Lakes, a resort town nestled in the Sierra Nevada mountains, named after Mammoth Mountain and the basin of lakes in the valley.

Take the famous Tioga Road, a scenic high mountain road that runs through the northern section of Yosemite National Park.

Make a stop at Tuolumne Meadows, the largest subalpine meadow in the Sierra Nevada. You won't have to walk far to find peace and serenity there.

Important note: If you are travelling between October and May, Tioga Road will be closed due to excessive snow at high altitudes. In this case, we will have to modify your route to pass further south.

Day 6: Mammoth Lakes / Death Valley (291 km)

Steps: Death Valley National Park

This morning, set out to discover Death Valley.

Your best option is to take Route 190 and drive to Furnace Creek, a real oasis in the middle of the desert.

Then continue on to Dante's View, where you will enjoy a vast panorama of desert and sand dunes.

Important note: Temperatures can reach 45 degrees Celsius (110 degrees Fahrenheit) in the valley in July and August. You are strongly advised to visit early in the morning or at the end of the afternoon and to bring plenty of water.

Day 7: Death Valley / Las Vegas (250 km)

Steps: Las Vegas

Today you head for the most eccentric destination in the western United States: Las Vegas.

Begin your stay with a visit to the top of the Stratosphere, which offers a panoramic view of the city.

Take a walk along the Strip, a stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard lined with a thousand and one casinos and hotels, each one more flamboyant than the last. The most impressive are the Wynn, Treasure Island and The Venetian.

Add to the enjoyment of the evening by going to see the spectacular fountain show at the Bellagio Hotel. It's an iconic Las Vegas attraction.

Day 8: Las Vegas / Zion (328 km)

Steps: Zion National Park

Spend the morning enjoying Las Vegas and its attractions.

In the afternoon, continue your route in the direction of Zion National Park.

Zion meant "paradise" to the Mormons who discovered this place, reflecting the strong impression left by these postcard-worthy landscapes.

Day 9: Zion

Steps: Zion National Park

Spend an enjoyable day exploring Zion on board the free shuttle, which drives along the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive, a 13-kilometre scenic route.

We recommend getting off at the Court of the Patriarchs, where a short trail leads to a viewpoint with a view of three mountain peaks over 2,000 metres high.

Continue along the scenic route to the Narrows, the narrowest section of Zion Canyon.

Day 10: Zion / Bryce Canyon (112 km)

Steps: Bryce Canyon National Park

Today's destination is Bryce Canyon, certainly one of the most spectacular parks in the southwestern United States.

Bryce Canyon National Park is a forest of sandstone spires and pillars (hoodoos) set in the hollow of a natural amphitheatre.

Hiking enthusiasts won't want to miss the Queens Garden trail for a close look at the stone columns and arches. It's like being on a different planet!

At sunset, the views from Sunset Point are breathtaking as the park's features explode into a kaleidoscope of colours.

Day 11: Bryce Canyon / Lake Powell (233 km)

Steps: Lake Powell

Today you head for Lake Powell. The contrast between the clear blue waters of the lake and the surrounding stark red sandstone rocks is quite spectacular.

But just before reaching your destination, make a stop at Horseshoe Bend. It's a 30-minute round trip that will give you a breathtaking view of the Colorado River.

And don't miss the spectacular play of light and colour on the walls of Antelope Canyon.

Day 12: Lake Powell

Steps: Lake Powell

Why not spend an enjoyable day relaxing with the family?

Lake Powell is the perfect place for family activities such as swimming and hiking.

After all, you are on vacation!

Day 13: Lake Powell / Monument Valley (279 km)

Steps: Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park

The adventure continues with an iconic symbol of the Far West and the American western, Monument Valley.

Be sure to take the Monument Valley scenic drive, the best way to enjoy the beauty of these legendary landscapes.

John Ford's Point is without a shadow of a doubt the most spectacular location in the region, and is also the most accessible. You'll have no reason to miss it!

Day 14: Monument Valley / Grand Canyon (372 km)

Steps: Grand Canyon National Park

Today you head for South Rim in the eastern part of Grand Canyon National Park, the most spectacular section of the canyon.

Begin your discovery of the Grand Canyon at Mather Point, unquestionably the most beautiful viewpoint in the park. Despite the number of visitors, the silence is overwhelming before the majesty of the Grand Canyon.

Day 15: Grand Canyon

Steps: Grand Canyon National Park

Don't miss Hermit Road in Grand Canyon National Park.

This road can be explored on foot and/or by shuttle bus. Follow the road to Mohave Point, a scenic overlook offering a breathtaking panoramic view to the west. You will literally feel as though you are floating over the Grand Canyon!

Desert View Drive at sunset is also spectacular. Lipan Point, in particular, is the perfect spot to enjoy colourful sunset vistas.

Day 16: Grand Canyon / Barstow (595 km)

Steps: Barstow

Spend the morning enjoying the Grand Canyon.

On your way to Barstow, stop in Calico to visit the ghost town, about twenty minutes from your hotel.

Day 17: Barstow / San Diego (285 km)

Steps: San Diego

Young and old alike will have a hard time containing their excitement as you head for a family destination par excellence: San Diego!

This southern city boasts many well-known theme parks. Don't miss a visit to the San Diego Zoo, widely considered one of the best in the world.

But in addition to these popular sites, you will also be captivated by the beauty of its natural attractions.

Day 18: San Diego

Steps: San Diego

Why not spend part of the day relaxing on one of the city's many beaches? Pacific Beach is the most scenic and the most lively.

Be sure to visit the city's most beautiful attractions: Balboa Park, Gaslamp Quarter and Old Town San Diego. The Reuben H. Fleet Museum is a must-see with the kids.

And why not enjoy the evening air on the patio of a Gaslamp Quarter cafe?

Day 19: San Diego / Los Angeles (203 km)

Set a course for the City of Angels, Los Angeles.

Don't miss the best attractions in Los Angeles with its downtown skyscrapers and Miracle Mile.

Tonight, head to Olvera Street to enjoy a typical Mexican meal.

Day 20: Los Angeles

Get a look behind the scenes with a visit to a Hollywood movie studio. We recommend the Universal Studio tour, perfect for families.

Along the way, discover the most beautiful neighborhoods in Beverly Hills, home to the biggest stars in Hollywood.

It's a well-known fact: L.A. beaches are legendary. Visit Santa Monica Beach for a touch of upscale chic: a great place to do some shopping.

Or head to Venice Beach with its more bohemian vibe. It's the artists' district of Los Angeles.

Day 21: Los Angeles

Enjoy the final moments of your American family vacation before heading to the Los Angeles airport, where you board your flight home.

It's time to say goodbye to the land of Uncle Sam, filled with beautiful memories that will last a lifetime!!!
