Day 1: Dresden

Steps: Dresden, Neustadt

Discovery of the architectural jewel of Saxony with its fascinating history of destruction and reconstruction. Visit the baroque city and some of the most prestigious museums in the city: the Zwinger, the Grünes Gewölbe or theAlbertinum. In the evening, stroll along the banks of the Elbe and visit the Neustadt district, a great place to go out.

Day 2: Leipzig

Steps: Berlin, Leipzig

The largest city in the former GDR after Berlin, Leipzig is an open-air museum of history, where you can see the Renaissance, the Baroque, the 19th century bourgeoisie, communism and reunification. It is full of important monuments, such as the Bach church, the Thomaskirche, or the baroque Nikolaïkirche. Visit the old town, in the footsteps of Goethe, Wagner or Karl Liebknecht; visit the Bach museum or the Stasi museum, the monument of the Battle of the Nations. The lively shopping streets or the huge Belle Epoque quarters are pleasant places to discover, and you should enjoy the lively evenings in the cosy establishments of Karl-Liebknecht-Strasse.

Day 3: Potsdam-Berlin

Steps: Potsdam, Berlin

Before reaching Berlin, make a stop in Potsdam, which is only half an hour from the German capital. This attractive little green city surrounded by lakes has some interesting neighborhoods, but it is above all the German Versailles, as it is home to the classic Sanssouci Castle and its magnificent park, which you should admire. In the footsteps of German cinema, you should also visit the fascinating Film Museum. Berlin can be visited in the evening.

Places of interest :
SCHLOSS SANSSOUCI

Day 4: Berlin along the Wall

Steps: Berlin, Berg

To get in touch with the confusing capital, you can follow the traces of separation and reunification, following the key places of the Wall that separated the city for three decades. You can start at Bernauerstrasse, between Ackerstrasse and Bergstrasse, where a piece of the Wall is a listed monument. Across the street is a photo gallery of the Wall. Then go to the East Side Gallery on Mühenstrasse to see more than 1 km of the Wall painted after its fall by East and West German artists. Then head to the Wall Museum, called Haus Am Checkpoint Charlie located on Friedrichstrasse. Direction to the famous Brandenburger Tor, next to which the Wall passed, close to the Unter den Linden avenue and the memorials of the Holocaust or of the German resistance. In the footsteps of history, you can go to the heart of the former West Berlin, to the memorial church (Kaiser-Wilhlem-Gedächtniskirche) which is located on Breitscheidplatz. Depending on your wishes, you can spend your evening in the trendy bohemian district of Prenzlauer Berg or in the mythical Kreuzberg of Berlin's alternative and Turkish life. The warmth of Berlin's nights is yours!

Day 5: Stroll in Mitte

Steps: Neuruppin, Berlin, Stuttgart

Alexanderplatz, between the Spree and the Nikolaiviertel, is the heart of Berlin. It is a historical square of Berlin and former city center of East Berlin with communist architecture. Don't miss the Marx-Engels-Forum and the 365 m high Fernsehturm (television tower) . The tiny district of Nikolaiviertel is a remnant of historical Berlin, rebuilt identically, but which has not lost its charm. Its main points of interest are the St. Nicholas Church (Nikolaikirsche) and the surprising red-brick town hall (das Rote Rathaus). Afterwards, you can visit one of the famous museums at Museumsinsel or the expressionist "Brücke" museum or the "Kulturforum".

Then, after dark, you can go to the artists' quarter (Scheunenviertel) which is located between Oranienburgerstrasse, Augutstrasse and Rosenthaler Strasse. Inner courtyards, small alleys, life is in full swing in every corner of the district. A must-see is the Tacheles cultural center. This group of buildings is in fact a real artists' city in which sculptures and paintings are exhibited, with a background of techno music..

Day 6: Charlottenburg and Prenzlauer Berg

Steps: Berlin, Berg

A visit to Berlin 's former royal district begins with the beautiful castle with its romantic park. Attractive museums are housed here. Opposite the castle, you will find several art museums, including the Berggruen Sammlung where works by Picasso, Klee or Matisse are exhibited. You can punctuate your day with a stroll through Charlottenburg, taking care to pass by Savignyplatz and Steinplatz, which are the meeting places for students and intellectuals. Finally, and by contrast, return to East Berlin to the district of Prenzlauer Berg with its charming Kollwitz-Platz and its legendary student and alternative nightlife.
