Défense de l'Animal is a national confederation of 270 independent associations and shelters. Founded in 1928 and recognized as a non-profit organization, Défense de l'Animal is France's largest animal protection network, present in 97 départements: local shelters, retirement homes for elderly animals, care centers for wild animals, farm animal shelters, horse shelters. Défense de l'Animal is the voice of regional shelters.
