GILLES GIACOMOTTI
Read moreBorn in Geneva, originally from Annecy, after graduating in Art from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Dijon in 1987, Gilles Giacomotti moved to the United States in 1994 and began his artistic career in New York where he created and produced works on parquet floors for his clients, architects and decorators. He returned to France in 2008, continuing his activity and developing it on wall panels, furniture and wooden carpets, an innovative concept that he has just launched. In love with his lake and mountains, he is known more locally through his series of "Bleus du lac". Gilles Giacomotti thus revisits the most beautiful shores of the lake. His paintings are tinged with intense blues, colours dear to the artist, inviting us to contemplation. The landscapes carry the reminiscences of a childhood spent on the shores of Lake Annecy and translate the attachment that the artist keeps for this colourful city. Influenced by his American experience and his eclecticism, both classical and contemporary, he likes to paint on large formats. His paintings highlight the beauty of the lake and its environment with shades of blue based on water tints that he degrades by superimposing layers of glaze, all in transparency in order to reveal the grain of the wood, its knots and its material. From one shore to the other, he explores the most beautiful sites, the most beautiful views by capturing the light, the contours, the reflections, the atmosphere and paints the identity of the places, especially Lake Annecy, his home. This autumn, in partnership with the Organdi Home Décoration boutique and Carole Giraudon, he is launching a collection of panoramic wallpapers from Les Bleus du lac. A meditative view of the lake that everyone will be able to contemplate from home to imagine their inner journey.
