This is the first time that a rosé producer has received such an award. On Monday January 30th, this good news was announced in San Francisco to Domaines Ott*, a historic (since 1896) and iconic vineyard of our beautiful Var department. Indeed, the American wine magazine Wine Enthusiast, founded in New York in 1979 by Adam and Sybil Strum, awarded them the "European Winery of the Year" prize, i.e. "the European wine of the year 2022"! Every year, this famous media awards prizes to innovative personalities and companies, a noble way to highlight those who contribute to the influence of the wine and spirits world. The prize list allows us to discover passionate people, and this time it pays tribute to the work of the Ott family and the Roederer group on the three properties that make up the Domaines. Château Romassan in the heart of an 18th century building in the Bandol appellation. In Côtes-de-Provence: Clos Mireille in La-Londe-les-Maures for subtle and singular wines that mature facing the sea and Château de Selle in Taradeau, made up of terraced plots for a crystalline and highly aromatic rosé. The key to success? 600 hours of work per hectare, the artisanal knowledge of man and the land, combined with a technique worthy of haute-couture, sprinkled with passion and love. The result? Sublime rosés with a pale color.
