Honey and jam producers Bouches-Du-Rhône

Ugo Bondil is a passionate beekeeper-breeder, an agricultural engineer by training. Based in this small village of Trévaresse, near Aix, Ugo spreads his 400 hives in the south of France according to the seasons. The result is several varieties of honey, all organic: lavender honey, garrigue honey, chestnut honey. The traceability is guaranteed by the location of the hives, the dates of production and the quantities produced. Ugo also sells swarms if you want to start beekeeping and he shares his passion for bees by giving conferences here and there.

Honey, royal jelly, pollen... Norbert and Enca Maudoigt, and their daughter Clélia, who have been living in the village for many years, offer natural products from their hives, which they move according to the type of honey they want to produce: to the Valensole plateau for lavender honey, to Tain (Drôme) for fir tree honey and to the Alpilles for garrigue and rosemary honey. They have a particular technique of brewing to keep the smoothness of the precious nectar. An online shop has recently been created.

Jérôme Blochet produces a honey that you will tell us about. It must be said that this beekeeper offers a varied range of products to satisfy all tastes: those who like strong honeys as well as those who like milder honeys. If Jérôme Blochet takes his hives to Haute-Ardèche and Tain-l'Hermitage, he can find enough to make sublime rosemary and Alpilles flower honeys. For his lavender honey, the bees go to the violet flowers of Drôme Provençale, and for the sunflower honey, the great suns of Lauragais.

To taste Gérard Jourdan's honeys and bee products - pollen, propolis, mead, candies, honey vinegar - you'll have to go and meet him! No intermediaries, no distance selling, just direct, short-distance sales. Visit the markets of Provence or the honey house in Auriol. Some fifteen different honeys are on offer (lavender, arbutus, fir, Camargue...), some of them Label Rouge; he's the only honey producer in Marseille whose trademark is registered with the INPI. His son Sébastien has joined him in the business.

This beekeeping operation is located in the heart of a unique environment, at the foot of the Sainte-Victoire mountain. It offers high quality fine honeys made with passion by Jean-Jacques Malet and his bees. Butinarello means "forager" in Provençal, it's the name of Caroline and Quentin's honey house. They master the whole production process, from breeding to packaging. Their hives are transhumant on the Côte Bleue, in the hinterland of Aix and the Luberon. Their honeys are organic. They also collect fresh pollen and royal jelly, 100% natural. With the wax of their bees, they make Bee Wraps, reusable cotton food packaging to cover food, ecological and zero waste

Honey is a family affair with the Browns. No less than five generations have succeeded one another at the helm of this small business that produces a honey that is simply divine. It must be said that the concern for good and local production is pushed to the extreme here: no imports, no cutting... only the product processed on the spot. We're not going to lie to each other, it will be difficult to find better. A piece of advice, before going to the honey house, it is better to make a phone call, because the family is as much as possible on the field to pamper the foragers.

On the heights of the village, this organic transhumance bee farm produces several varieties of honey: rosemary, garrigue, thyme, acacia, chestnut, calanques, lime and lavender, from the Vercors. You can also find propolis, vegetable ice creams, honey shortbread, wheat, small spelt, gingerbread, marshmallows, cakes and quince paste or soap. Cyril and Gilles honey producers joined together to give birth in 2006, to L'Or des abeilles. Since 2019, Théotime, Cyril's son has joined the Gaec, they now have 1000 hives. They produce a dozen honeys according to the transhumance: lavender, rosemary, thyme in Provence, lime, acacia, chestnut in the Drome and Ardeche. So many flavors, colors and textures for these honeys produced by craftsmen and in respect of the environment. On sale in the shops of Puyloubier and in the big stores of the region.

This couple of beekeepers have been working with their bees for years in the pine forest of Rajols. The honeys have the same smoothness every year. You can regularly find them at local produce fairs to buy an absolutely delicious black nougat. Children and gourmets particularly appreciate the caramels and lollipops. If you are more curious, just call them to visit their honey factory, which is always impressive. This will also be an opportunity to taste the jams, homemade of course.

Daniel Fino has set up his own jam-making workshop in the pretty village of Mimet, where he makes real jams in the traditional way, with a minimum of 60% fruit. These include classic Provençal jams made with pear, fig, raspberry or persimmon, as well as more surprising jams made with wild fruit (sloes, jujubes, sirodon, i.e. wild rose).
