LA CABANE

Bar and caf
4.4/5

Closed - Open to 11h00

A unique place that we love! In the middle of the marshes, an old oyster hut transformed into an oyster bar and nautical base. Both a bar with a small restaurant service (oysters, tapas...), here you can also book canoes, stand-up paddles or fishing on board. You can walk on the Vertonne and Auzance rivers in the heart of the marshes or head for the ocean. We love the sofas with their colourful cushions, made from wooden pallets. The view on the marshes is great! Success oblige, book now!

L’ÉQUIPAGE

Cocktail bar
4.1/5
30 reviews
Closed - Opens in 44 minutes

L'Équipage is a lively place to be right from the morning, at the foot of the beach. We love it for its warm welcome and top-notch service, its terrace overlooking the ocean, and its low prices! The bar is bright and warm, and the menu is excellent: wines by the glass, several draught beers, but the speciality remains rum, with a wide range of ti-punches and cocktails. Accompanying the menu are home-made accras and samoussas, and tapas (home-made rillettes and terrines, cheeses...). After the beach, an ice cream or crêpe break. A sports fan, David offers sports broadcasts on the big screen.

LA PAILLOTE D'ELIOTT

Bar and caf
4.8/5
48 reviews
Closed - Open to 10h30

Overlooking the Marais Girard beach, La Paillote d'Eliott is both a bar offering food and a grocery store selling local produce. We like the original design of the terrace, made from wooden pallets and decorated with lanterns. Here, just off the beach, you can share an aperitif with friends over tapas, sardines, cheese platters and fish rillettes (available from the grocery store), with a cocktail. The menu also includes pasta salad, burgers and fish and chips. A great place to go at any time of day!

NO.MAD COFFEE

Coffee shop and tea room

Kouign amann in the land of brioche: it was a daring gamble, but it paid off. It has to be said that the Breton specialities served in this café-tea room are truly delicious. This coffee shop is a family business run by Bretons Frédéric and his father Franck, and the pastries are all homemade. The decor is cosy, and you choose your pastry from a large central table, right in front of the open lab. Other specialties include far aux pruneaux (soft and fragrant), gâteau breton, available in 9 recipes, and Jean. No, an apple cake to die for.

It's at La Chaume that we meet Jean-Luc, one of the local figures! The tone is set: here you are in the "principality of Chaum"! With his colorful personality and his cheeky manner, he brings this unusual setting to life! Here, the Chaumois, no stranger to local anecdotes, rubs shoulders with the tourist intrigued by this Chaumoise enclave, and all gather around crisp slices of life, sharing oysters, cochonnailles... A place with vintage decor and that little extra: regular concerts. A simple little place, but an evening full of encounters!

Next to the ferry terminal, this bar-restaurant enjoys a panoramic view of the ocean. Tasteful contemporary decor, short, simple menu, local and seafood products including oysters that can be eaten at any time of day. Several spaces, between the bar downstairs, and upstairs, the restaurant part at the end of which extends a terrace with a view of the bridge that connects the continent to the island of Noirmoutier. If you are in a hurry because of the imminent departure of your boat for Yeu, opt for the quick meals: omelettes, croque-monsieur...

LE SALON DES DESSERTS

This tea room is located in the shadow of the church, in the center of Saint-Jean. To his head, smiling, Sebastien Caudal and Daniel. As pastries, fine pastries and pastries are made home, like chocolates, caramels, jams, etc. Among the lighthouses: The Chocotarte (a chocolate background, burnt cream and fruit), a dozen of home macarons (salted butter caramel, lemon, pralé, etc.), Charnet (Breton sanded, vanilla cream), the raspberry raspberry, and of course the brioche, the spoil and the flank. It's a marquee year. Sébastien has made a specialty of pastries from the pastry range, like the religious to salty butter caramel. Cakes that have the common point of generosity, such as their creator, one of the emblematic desserts is the rum baba. There are also creations, such as Le Pêché montois (black chocolate foam, caramel, chocolate mousse milk, hazelnuts). In winter, you can taste these delicacies in the small room, accompanied by one of Damman teas or a Viennese chocolate. They will leave the place in summer to ice desserts, vacherine or ice-cream (about ten perfumes), to take away or to enjoy on the terrace.

LA ROMAZIÈRE

Wine bar

Here's an address that, although hidden away in an industrial zone, has several assets, starting with its industrial-look setting, imagined by Jérémy and Marine. The restaurant, which doubles as a wine and tapas bar, also boasts quality home cooking and low prices. Whether you're looking for a menu of the day, or just getting off work for an aperitif-tapas with friends, La Romazière can be enjoyed without moderation. A fine range of wines: its wine library offers over twenty wines by the glass from all over the world, to accompany homemade sweet or savoury tapas.

LA COMÈTE

Your main accessory to come here will be a pair of sunglasses, since in Sables-d'Olonne, the comet's passage can be observed all year long. In the heart of the embankment of Sables-d'Olonne, the large and beautiful terrace facing the sea attracts. One comes there to have breakfast or coffee with a newspaper in hand, a refreshment in the afternoon, or to nibble for lunch and dinner, facing the ocean while perfecting one's tan. La Comète has a contemporary look with dominant gray and turquoise colors, recalling the colors of the ocean.

BAR LES ARTISTES

Bar and caf
4/5
3 reviews

The place is atypical and original: every night owl knows the Bar des Artistes. More than a bar, Le BDA is above all a café-concert that organizes concerts and improvisation sessions every week from September to May. The outdoor stage then takes over, every Friday in summer, on the terrace under the cherry trees of Place Résistance. In short, this lively year-round venue has a soul. On Saturday evenings, you have to elbow your way to a seat. The clientele is young, but all generations mix.

In the Halles de la Vie, it is one of the bars that cannot be ignored in Saint-Gilles. A bar-apéro doubled with a cellar. All the bottles from the cellar are available at the bar! Only products from the cellar are sold here. Other assets: a vast terrace as if sitting on the water at high tide, with a magnificent panoramic view of the river and the port, about 400 wine references, a selection of wines by the glass, 150 whiskies, 50 rums and 300 different beers... And to accompany all this, boards of cold meats and cheeses, to enjoy the aperitif.

On the Place Nap', this glass roof at the foot of the pool where the ibis is located is the setting for this bar-restaurant. When the weather is fine, it unfolds a terrace facing the foot of the kiosk. The door opens onto a large space where the glass and aluminium of the structure are mixed with Scandinavian-style blond wood furniture. The place is made of different spaces with, next to the main room, another one opening onto a covered terrace overlooking the pools. On the bar side, the menu displays traditional drinks that you can accompany with one of the dishes on the menu.

It's the place to be in Les Herbiers, to meet up with friends over a Guinness and enjoy memorable evenings listening to live music! Le Barbatruc (Le Barba for regulars) has all the assets of a typical bar with an Irish accent: a good musical atmosphere, a setting filled with the stories of each customer, a friendly atmosphere and a diverse clientele. L’ALBANERA CAFÉ

World bar

Take your passport for the Albanera Café. The decoration illustrates the Latin-Cuban atmosphere. With its three rooms to change the atmosphere, not forgetting the pretty interior terrace, you can organise your stay as you wish. You can also sip a cocktail at the bar, take over the large room for dinner and dancing or even enjoy the small lounge. Gaël and his team will warm up the place and make you sway on the floor. By the way, do you know what "Albanera" means? Well, it's an Argentinean tango position.
