Read moreThe Hippodrome de l'Atlantique is located in the town of Saint-Jean-de-Monts, in the Vendée region. It faces the Atlantic Ocean, in the dunes of the Pays-de-Monts forest. Horse racing takes place mainly in August each year. The racecourse's grass track is considered one of the best in the Grand Ouest region, thanks to its quality and flexibility. Numerous improvements have been made to enhance public facilities, including a cross-country course, a technical tower, grandstands and boxes, as well as an automatic watering system. The site also boasts a restaurant open from 12 noon on race days. Races take place at night from 4pm, with special entertainment for each day.

Read moreAt the beginning of the 19th century, horse races were already organised by the municipality of Les Sables-d'Olonne, on the beach. At that time, there was neither a racing society nor a racecourse. In 1913, the Minister of Agriculture ordered the town to stop racing on the beach and to create a racecourse. In 1913, the Société des courses is created: it is the birth of the Hippodrome de la Lande. With its growing success, a new racecourse was built in 1970: the Malbrande.
