A cultural place initiated by former Coimbra students who have decided to come together to promote their common passion: fado. A very appreciable place, on the walls, with photos of all the fadists, known or unknown in Coimbra. A short hour of entertainment will allow you to discover this musical tradition. Video that traces the birth and origin of this fado, then gives way to musicians who play with soul and passion. At the end of the show, you can enjoy a very good Port in the small patio. Very pleasant musical moment.

Housed in a beautiful chapel, this space of local musical tradition with an exhibition room and video library offers nightly concerts of fado and guitar from Coimbra, certified of origin and controlled appellation. It is an establishment rather of summer having terraces, swimming pools and external gardens. The national DJs regularly occupy its turntables, the music is varied (electro, pop, musica brasileira, house and the always effective karaoke nights). The management has set up a free bus service from the cathedral to avoid drunk driving. Very young population. With the development of the bars on the Docas secas, the establishment has lost a bit of its former popularity; this is largely due to its distance from the center.

With its superb terrace offering a panoramic view, Taverna Lusitana is already scoring points. You will be able to taste excellent products of the region: cheeses, wines, cold meats, honeys, jams, cookies... and drink mead on draught or a coffee to rest after the visit of the village. Warm and friendly atmosphere, nice welcome. For those who wish to extend their stay, the tavern has one room and two studios with kitchenette. All are equipped with television, heating and wifi.

This old red double-decker bus is still a trendy place with a terrace where you can drink a few copos until 2 or 3 in the morning, with a background of Anglo-Saxon music. Most of the clientele are students who like to party until noon! If you are older, you might feel out of place but the atmosphere is nice and it's a good place to meet people. During the day however, it is calmer and more heterogeneous. You can also eat good pancakes and watch soccer games. Not to be missed!

A disco bar has taken place in former stables. He likes to run the Djs for quite tonic evenings that do not start before meia-noite.

It has a very pleasant garden terrace, one is in admiration of the magnificent view on the monastery and the city of Coimbra. Exhibitions of pictorial art and concerts are often held. You can nibble on tostas, enjoy good cocktails, natural juices or even a chocolate cake. Large selection of teas. Possibility to rent bicycles on the spot and to have a picnic prepared for a summer walk.

A unifying space for shows, thematic festivals, theatre or fado. A little bit of fast restoration, and no obligation to consume for a minimum amount as is usually the case in clubs and night bars.

Every evening we sing the Fado and Coimbra Fado. It is the oldest of the most recently renovated Fado houses in Coimbra. This can be seen at the walls of temporary exhibitions. Complicit clients. The regulars arrive around 22 h, do the same. You eat petiscos, or you can eat a bigger meal there. Attention also to the neighborhood, which is a little desert late in the evening.

This beach bar faces the ocean. It's the perfect place to drink a beer or a smoothie at sunset and to party on weekends with your feet in the sand. Sit in the big comfy beanbags with reggae and electro dub music playing in the background. Snack menu at any time, fresh and varied products. We come to admire the waves of the ocean and their majestic back and forth between friends or solo. We discuss with the other people present if we feel like it (or not). A very nice beach bar atmosphere!

In this Irish pub, you'll find excellent beers from all over the world. The pub is on 3 levels, and the top floor is beautifully decorated. It's the ideal place to watch a soccer match with friends or play a game of pool. Excellent francesinha to accompany drinks and homemade cheesecake. The waiters are friendly and if you don't like beer, the house cocktails are excellent. Very friendly atmosphere and reasonable prices. Live music some evenings. Pleasant terrace in summer.

In this small and trendy box, a DJ passes from electro every evening until. Prefer evenings with guests rather than residents. Ideal to finish at night. Drinks at reasonable prices.

The Ice Bar (Bar de Gelo) in Viseu is an attraction in its own right. It's true that the experience is fun: you are greeted and then lent a Canadian jacket and escorted to the bar room. Everything is made of ice, walls, ceiling, seats, and even the glasses! Incredible but true! Inexpensive ersatz animal skins from the Great North are available so you don't freeze your hindquarters. A little expensive some will say but it's original and refreshing in the summer especially when the outside temperature flirts with the 40°C.

This small bar-snack bar is located in the charming Republic Square, right next to the Santa Cruz Park and Gardens. The main customers of the place are students but everyone is welcome, at any time of the day. You can sit inside or on the terrace to have a drink, a cocktail or a coffee, accompanied by a hamburger, a toast, traditional petiscos (Coimbra tripe, fried egg, chicken legs...), a cod dish. For dessert: brownie, chocolate mousse, banana split... At very low prices.

A bar as we like them, between the atmosphere of a tavern and an Irish pub with a program of concerts, exhibitions, cinema, reading... It's a bit of a spot for the city's artists, who meet around a good glass of wine, a caneca, and some tapas. To eat, you can choose between meat or vegetarian dishes. Excellent franceshina. You won't come to this café-brasserie for the rather ordinary setting but to eat or drink at any time of the day since they prepare breakfasts, lunches, snacks or dinners very early in the morning until late at night. Everything is homemade from the starter to the dessert. Tapas of octopus in entrance, bacalhau con nata or still doce de casa are part of the inescapable. Juice of pressed oranges. Its central location makes it the meeting point of students and musicians of the university. Perfect for a break during the visits.
