From the airport to the city centre Algarve

To reach the centre of Faro, there are several possibilities for newcomers: renting a car, taking a taxi or taking the bus. The taxi ride costs about 10 € during the day. Buses 14 and 16 of the Proximo company make the shuttle bus and it takes 20 minutes to get there.

Public transport Algarve

Regular bus connections are provided throughout the country, with a wider time range in season. Four companies serve the coastal and hinterland cities. Eva and Frota Azul offer an economical Turisco Pass, giving unlimited travel for periods of 3 to 7 days

A railway line runs along the south coast from Faro to Lagos and eastwards towards Vila Real. This is a nice way if you have time as these regional trains are quite slow. As an example, allow 1h45 between Faro and Lagos

By car Algarve

Many well-known car rental agencies on the market or local car rental agencies meet the demand. In general, they are well-established professionals. Prices are competitive because the competition is great. However, beware of hidden extras, which can lead to unpleasant surprises on arrival.
