Jacques Droux is a multi-field artist who inspired by everything you can observe. Located in the SEISAAM chapel, the interpretation centre exhibits a selection from a donation of 2,500 pieces of earthenware by Jacques Jouêtre and Henri Martin, former owners of the Château du Bois d'Épense, where the earthenware factory was located. Established in 1735 by Henri-Louis Leclerc, this factory played a major role in the economy of Argonne from 1765 to 1848 and was one of the most important in the Grand Est. This exhibition provides an overview of the different types of ceramics produced in Bois d'Épense: from the "grand feu" earthenware to that painted on the lamppost known as "petit feu", produced from 1785 to 1848, as well as fire clay crockery...
