Opened since 1990, it has the reputation, with the local clientele, of being the best establishment in town. Weddings, birthdays... In fact, for a long time the Lien Tuoi was the only restaurant in a small village lost in a valley in northern Vietnam. The battlefield turned into a town and the town into a city. The Tuoi Link is still there. It is very popular with the provincial authorities, as evidenced by the proudly displayed certificates, but it must be said that the cuisine is nothing remarkable...

Large restaurant (by size) very appreciated by the local clientele who come to bank there. Regional specialties, especially duck (vit quay). Another speciality that seems to be very popular is ca lang, a kind of catfish that we see frolicking in the fish tanks and that ends up being prepared in various and varied preparations. The local clientele enjoys tasting it in a convivial way, simmering in a pot-au-feu (lâu) placed in the centre of the table.

The Lizard is a pleasant refuge for misty, damp evenings. It is certainly not an unforgettable gastronomic stopover, but a varied cuisine (Vietnamese and international specialties) is served and very affordable. We are very happy to come back for breakfast, lunch or dinner and the establishment has a very nice canteen. The little extra in the house are the delicious pastries and breads available at the counter at the entrance. The staff is friendly and helpful. Anyway, good food and good plans...

By far the best restaurant in the station area. This is where the guides bring their travelers who are doing the northern circuit and who go to Sapa. Nothing exceptional, but an honest Vietnamese cuisine, with a large choice of dishes. Several Mediterranean specialties are also on the menu, pizzas, spaghetti and pasta, but it is wiser to stick to local specialties. For burgers, it's better to skip it altogether. The room is spacious and impeccable, the waitresses are pleasant.

It's hard to miss the appeal of this sign, in front of the train station. However, to hope too much, one always ends up being disappointed. We are far from the gastronomic stage... The establishment has no other ambition than its practical side, at about 100 m from the station. It serves a basic Vietnamese cuisine and some Western dishes: spaghetti, steak and French fries... Also breakfasts: coffee, pancakes, omelette or pho... at the exit of the night train. In short, a restaurant intended for travelers in transit and which does its job well.

Close to the Haiphong Museum, a tiny brick-walled restaurant with a warm, friendly atmosphere, serving fine Western cuisine. An oasis of tranquillity in a bustling city not always hospitable to visitors. On the menu, good brasserie cuisine: risotto, steak, salmon filet... The establishment seems rather incongruous in an area not often visited by tourists, but in its solitude, it's well worth the detour. For a glass of wine, a beer, a plate of charcuterie, all accompanied by a jazz tune...

A small, friendly canteen located high up in the town. Nothing exceptional, but a simple and quite good cuisine at very low prices for Sapa. Here, you can eat locally, i.e. order several small dishes to share, such as a meat dish, vegetables, tofu, banh mi, pho and others... Smiling welcome. A good place to come for a beer, probably the cheapest in town. Open early in the morning for breakfast.

Building on the success of other Le Gecko establishments in Sapa, owner Mr. Dai recently opened this chalet-restaurant close to the lake and covered market. Quietly set in a small alleyway, the establishment offers a rustic, elegant and warm setting. The menu features excellent French specialties such as duck breast with pepper sauce, Sapa-style tartiflette and beef with mushroom sauce... Vietnamese recipes are not to be outdone, and excellent desserts are also on the menu. Smiling, professional service. Recommended.

Probably the best Indian restaurant in Vietnam... says the menu. And the competition is becoming tough, because Indian restaurants are multiplying. In Saigon, Hôi An or Hanoi, one must surely think that the Haiphong colleague, a little isolated, has taken the big head! So it may not be the best, but the cuisine is pleasant and constitutes a nice alternative for those who would like to make infidelities to the local cuisine. The menu is exhaustive and the classics do not disappoint. The establishment is appreciated by the tourist clientele.

On the left, this is the last establishment before entering the thermal baths. Visitors are greeted by houses on stilts with several rooms. Under the wooden roof, comfort is spartan, but the welcome is pleasant and the food good (culinary specialties of the region's ethnic groups: Muong, Tays). Few Western travelers, mostly Vietnamese tourists who have come to take the waters.

Popular establishment open relatively late, which serves local specialities and where beer flows.

For a gastronomic evening, with "fusion" creations between French, Vietnamese and authentic specialities from the area: herb of minorities, mushrooms… but also the fondue. 

Embarkation point for Emerald Cruises. Very pleasant coffee, which allows you to wait before boarding for a cruise in the bay. Pastries, or more substantial foods, but also picnic baskets to take on the water. Also wi-fi.

The prey wait in their fish tank and fear the order. Be careful to negotiate the price of this big-game fishing, as sincere or simulated misunderstandings can turn the customer into a hostage. There is a free place in the fish tank... Make sure that the chosen animal is the one presented on the plate.
