The best restaurants Danube Bend

This famous restaurant, founded by János Németh and his family in 1982, is housed in an old forge. Its name evokes the bandit, hero of a novel by Mór Jókai, who lived here at the time of the Habsburg emperor Joseph II. The restaurant room is made of bric and broc, with its collections of hanging wind instruments, medieval armour... It is warm, charming and often full of people. The menu (in French) offers all sorts of Magyar specialities (fish soup, chicken with paprika, goose leg with red cabbage, breaded meats...).

This small café with a Greek look has a nice terrace with white and blue tablecloths where it is good to have a fruit juice or an aperitif. The wine list is well stocked and does not only offer Hungarian wines... for once, Greek wines are also on the menu! Not to mention the pálinka menu. On the other hand, ideal for snacks, Café Adria offers good grilled meat and fish specialties at unbeatable prices (Greek salad, grilled meats of all kinds...), served in a Mediterranean atmosphere.

It's not easy to find what you're looking for in a restaurant when you're far from Budapest. That's why we had to include in this guide the Hekk Terasz Vác, a simple restaurant that doesn't look like much but is efficient in what it offers. On the menu: fish & chips with Hungarian sauce, fish and vegetables or well executed pasta. The terrace does not look like much either, but the atmosphere is nice. Most of the customers here are locals, but tourists also come here for lack of anything better.
