MAKIKA

Patisserie

We come here first and foremost for its delicious pastries with a distinctly French touch (cannelés, Kouign-amann, eh yes), which have made its reputation in La Laguna since it opened in February 2017. But also for the location, the charming patio of an old Canarian house where you can sit down to breakfast with croissants made with French butter, of course, or take a gourmet break with a Valhrona chocolate cake. Later, you can even enjoy a drink. With so many good suggestions, it's easy to rush in, but don't worry, even if there is a queue, the service is both fast and efficient.

MERCADO NUESTRA SEÑORA DE AFRICA

Market
4/5
1 review

You can buy fruits and vegetables, fish, meat and flowers at the market dedicated to Our Lady of Africa, located on Calle San Sebastián, across from the TEA Museum. This enclosed two-story market, which is a large interior courtyard lined with arcades housing the stalls, does not have the liveliness of an African market, but neither is it completely European. This discreet exoticism justifies the visit. Inside and around, you will find many tapas bars.

As for drinks, you can accompany them with a cup of chocolate, a barraquito, a Bombon coffee or a cappucino. Be careful, the few tables on the terrace are often crowded.

A very small but strategic area for this dulcería, the oldest in La Laguna, which, as its name suggests, is next to the cathedral. Creamy treats that are essential at any time during your visit.

PÂTISSERIE EL ADERNO

Patisserie

Opened in 1991 by Teobaldo Méndez who gave it his name, in homage to the Canary tree, this pastry shop produces all kinds of sweets. Some typical Canarian ones like roquetes, a kind of small fritters; truchas, small sweet empanadas; almendrados, almond and cinnamon biscuits and meringues. And others are all the latest, as this pastry shop is constantly renewing itself, even offering sugar-free cakes. As well as pastries and sweets.
