Founded in 1846 by François Arago, L'Indépendant is one of the oldest French daily newspapers. Circulated mainly in the Pyrénées-Orientales and Aude departments (since 1932), it relays all the news from the major sectors of the region: Narbonne, Lézignan, Limoux, Castelnaudary, Port-La Nouvelle, Carcassonne... In its pages and on the website, it broadcasts local political and sports news, news, culture, etc. Since 2015, it has been owned by the La Dépêche group, just like Midi Libre.
