Founded in 1846 by François Arago, L'Indépendant is one of France's oldest daily newspapers. Circulated mainly in the Pyrénées-Orientales and Aude départements (since 1932), it relays all the latest news from the region's major areas: Narbonne, Lézignan, Limoux, Castelnaudary, Port-La Nouvelle, Carcassonne... In its pages and on the website, it broadcasts local political and sports news, miscellaneous items, culture, etc. Since 2015, it has been owned by the La Dépêche group, just like Midi Libre.
