This old carmel is surprising, if only by its proximity to the famous and gigantic stadium of the city. It traces the history of the city of Saint-Denis and its abbey, as well as the rich tradition of crafts in the region (a room dedicated to its medieval ceramics). On the first floor, various objects, drawings, engravings and paintings tell the life of carmel (and its most famous tomb, Louise de France, daughter of Louis XV). The second floor is devoted to the war of 1870 and the Commune of Paris (1871), plus a room dedicated to two artists (painter and colourist). The City of Saint-Denis also pays tribute to his "terrible child", surrealist poet Paul Eluard.
