This reliable and serious bus company offers several departures daily, every day of the week to the Costa Verde resorts. However, remember to book in advance on the site, as the buses are very often full for these tourist destinations, especially at weekends and for the holidays. Buses, like many intercity busses, can be taken from the Rodoviaria Novo Rio.

Easy Transfer offers a practical, fast and comfortable solution to get to Ilha Grande and Paraty easily and quickly in complete safety. The company picks you up directly from your hotel in the southern zone of Rio or from Santa Teresa, Lapa and the center, then direction Ilha Grande or Paraty. For the trip to Ilha Grande, the package includes your transfer by van to the pier of Conceição de Jacareí and then the boat crossing to the island. Remember to book at least 24 hours in advance. Viaçào is a bus company specialized on the Costa do Sol (Buzios among others). The main cities of this very touristic part of the State of Rio are served from Rio de Janeiro or Niterói: Arraial do Cabo, Araruama, Búzios, Cabo Frio and Saquarema. When you arrive in Rio or leave Rio to take the Viação company, you must go to the Rodoviaria Novo Rio in the northern zone. From 10 to 15 departures per day depending on the destination and the season. Check the timetable (which can change) on the company's website.

You can get to Niteroi by taking the long bridge over the bay, but you can also take the ferry to Niteroi to see its main attraction: the Niemeyer Museum, which looks like a flying saucer or a postmodern building. The CCR Barcas company provides quarter-hourly crossings to the town of Niteroi, on the Praça Arariboia (20-minute crossing), in front of the bay, and to the small island of Paqueta every 2 hours (70-minute crossing). The country's main airline was created in 2010 from the merger between TAM (Brazilian airline) and LAM (Chilean airline). It serves 42 destinations in Brazil and 20 international destinations, including many South American cities. It is competitive for domestic return flights, but for a one-way trip it is better to fly with a low-cost airline. The South American company provides connections between Europe and Brazil, but there are no direct flights from or to France by this company.

The new Praça Arariboia station provides quick access to the main buildings of the Caminho Niemeyer.

Estação Praça Arariboia. Shuttle boats between Praça XV (Rio Centro) and Praça Arariboia (Niterói) operate between 6 am and 11 pm every day. Between 6 and 10 a.m., departure every 10 minutes, then every 20 minutes.

This private boat company from Paraty is the only one that also organizes speedboat transfers (1h30 only) between Paraty and Ilha Grande. Paraty and Ilha Grande are two unmissable wonders of the Costa Verde and the possibility of connecting them by speedboat in only one hour and thirty minutes is an interesting alternative (more polluting?) to transportation by bus or van from Parati to Conceiçao do Jacaré (then by boat to Abraao).

The idea of self-service bicycles has taken off. From now on, in Paris or Rio, you can get around by bike without having to go through the restrictive rental system in stores. You have to register on the website and then use your cell phone. It's true, this step can be a bit complicated, but we advise you to pay a monthly pass online (easier than by phone). Bikes are picked up and dropped off at defined points (especially in the South Zone where the bike paths are the most developed).

Unica Facil is a bus company with daily connections to various towns in the Serra dos Orgaos region. The main cities served from Rio are Petrópolis and Teresópolis. Buses are plentiful. They leave every 15 minutes, Monday to Friday, from 5.15 a.m. to midnight. On Saturdays and Sundays, buses leave at 5.30 a.m., 6.15 a.m., 7 a.m. and then every 15 minutes until 10 p.m.. The journey takes around 1 hour 15 minutes, and there are also connections between Petrópolis and Teresópolis.

The bus company Cidade de Aço serves many destinations in the state of Rio and near Itatiaia Park. The cities served by this bus company are (among others): Itatiaia, Penedo, Resende, Visconde de Mauá (Itatiaia National Park).

Several bus companies serve the city of Penedo, including Agua Branca. There are frequent connections in high season and between the main towns in the region. If you need to go to towns far from the main transport routes, ask the guides at the pousadas.

The advantage of the Itatiaia Park area is that tourists can get there easily and quickly from Rio and Sao Paulo without having to drive. The rodoviaria of Petrópolis is the most modern in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The city is 65 km from Rio, and it takes about 1.5 hours to get there by bus (more during rush hour), and about R$ 28 for a single trip. In addition to trips from Petrópolis to Rio, it is possible to take buses to the states of Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, Santa Catarina, Goiás, Bahia and Rio de Janeiro. All of them leave from this bus station. It may take a long time, but the buses are comfortable and the ecological footprint of the traveler is much smaller.
