Opened in 1970 and renovated in 2015, Café Balear offers an interesting daily lunch menu. Very popular with the locals, this is one of the best restaurants in Ciutadella, with a long queue of customers in the summer (we highly recommend taking a seat around 8pm at the latest to avoid the wait). Once you are settled, you will enjoy a typical Menorcan gastronomic experience, based on products brought back every day from the sea by the Rosa Santa, the restaurant's fishing boat.

Patrick, a Frenchman who has lived in Menorca for many years, offers French specialties combined with local produce. The menu varies according to the season... and the imagination of the chef, always ready to explore new trends. Some suggestions? Duck confit with orange and carrot purée with cumin, aubergine-tomato crumble, vegetable Tarte Tatin... The place is very pleasant, starting with the terrace-pergola open in summer. In winter, it's best to head for the welcoming indoor lounge. Excellent wine cellar. We love it.

Since 2016, this restaurant has moved to a brand new location on the emblematic Carrer Santa Clara. Here, the art of "slow-food" is practiced. The menu is based on local and seafood products, prepared with taste and passion by Silvia and Toni. Es Tast de na Silvia offers gastronomy based on old recipes revisited in Silvia's very personal style: fish and seafood, meat and charcuterie, seasonal fruit and vegetables, artisan cheeses. An intimate meal that brings you closer to authentic Menorca.

In one of the quietest streets in the center of Ciutadella, this historic establishment opened in 1992. It's "the place to be" for pizza. Wood-fired oven, fresh quality ingredients, dough and artisanal know-how... the perfect combination. In addition to the extensive pizza menu, à la carte dishes offer good value for money. Varied salads, grilled vegetables, a selection of Iberian charcuterie, shrimps, mussels and calamari, carpaccios, rib steaks and grilled monkfish. Pizzeria Roma belongs to the famous Cafè Balear.

Bep Caules, creator and founder of the renowned Cafè Balear in the port of Ciutadella, opens the doors of Pins 46, a place where you can rediscover traditions such as the Vermut moment, dishes and recipes from the 1970s. Located in the heart of the historic quarter, in a typical Menorcan house with a welcoming interior patio, you can enjoy excellent tapas made with products from the island, such as the speciality eggs and bouquets from Ciutadella. Croquettes, octopus a la gallega, carpaccios, meatballs or mussels complete the menu.

El Rais restaurant invites you to an inventive gastronomic experience in Port de Maó! This new address is the brainchild of the owners of the Ses Forquilles restaurant. The restaurant specializes in rice-based dishes, hence the name "El Rais", a play on the word "rice". The original, gourmet tapas to share make an excellent introduction. The proportions are small, but the flavors are there! A fine wine list.

Es Bruc has been a benchmark for over 50 years. Situated at the start of Sant Tomàs beach in a privileged location, it enjoys spectacular views over the islet of Binicodrell. Starting point or return point for excursions to Binigaus and Cala Escorxada. On the Es Bruc terrace, you can enjoy hearty salads, typical Menorcan meats and specialities based on fresh fish of the day, all at a good price. The plates are generous. Lunchtime queues can be long in July and August, so remember to be seated before 1pm.

Breakfast, sandwich (4 €), salad (from 7,5 € to 10,50 €), tables of cheese, blocks, salmon (12 € to 13 €), tapas. Ice and sorbets. Air conditioned room or a pleasant terrace on the central square of Explanada.

Traditional and international cuisine served in a boat décor designed as a tribute to the shipwrights (translation of "Mestre d'Aixa") of Maó harbor. Start with a few homemade croquetes, one of the chef's salads or a green tomato gaspatxo, before moving on to a bacallà amb pisto i ou, octopus ramen, chicken canelons or corball and llagostin ceviche, and finish with a delicious French toast or lemon tart. Sounds appetizing, doesn't it?

A great place to eat tapas, but also more elaborate dishes, shoulder to shoulder with the locals. The lunch menu is copious and the rations generous. In short, a true bar de poble as we like it. To whet the appetites of passers-by, 36 photos of the sandwiches you can order at Can Xavi are displayed at the entrance, so there's plenty to choose from! When it comes to beer, you'll be able to choose from more than twenty offerings. A popular, typical address with timeless charm, where you get what you pay for.

Located in the heart of downtown Es Migjorn Gran, Es Chic, opened in 2021, is a nice place to grab a bite to eat at lunch or dinner. The menu is filled with local recipes and products and offers residents and travelers alike typical Menorcan dishes at a very reasonable price. Seafood, meat dishes in sauce and fresh vegetables are all on the menu. Pleasant service team and warm village atmosphere on the terrace in the summer. Perfect for a local restorative stop!

Impossible to miss, La Guapa, with its flight of white-topped tables, is located in the heart of the narrow streets of Fornells. A cozy dining room and a lovely terrace where you can enjoy traditional Mediterranean specialties prepared with expertise by chef Rubén Darío and his son Jon: caldereta de llagosta (lobster stew), arrossos (rice), but also fish and meat km0 are prepared with great skill and accompanied by vegetables grown in the restaurant's own garden. Freshness, good humor and gastronomic inventiveness are the order of the day.

It's in the port of Maó that you'll find the modern, cosy and bright Calucha. It's a small gastro-bar offering simple, well-made dishes based on local island produce. Here, locals and tourists alike can enjoy one (or more) of the five dishes of the day, washed down with one of the wines from the premises' excellent cellar. The menu includes sandwiches, cheese and charcuterie platters, and high-quality preserves. A reference in the port.

The Tamarindos straw hut is a must-see, floating above the water in front of Es Grau beach. From the terrace deck, you can enjoy a sensational view of the natural park and the distant horizon. Although the site has been around for a long time, it has now been reinvested by a young, dynamic team who have turned it into an attractive venue. The decor has been revised and is now more cosy. The music is good, the service team friendly. The arrossos are not bad, though a little expensive. A good address for a drink rather than a meal.

More than just a meal, Sa Parereta d'En Doro offers a complete culinary experience in an intimate, elegant and relaxed setting. Chef Doro Biurrun leads the way, treating the few guests seated in the warm dining room to just six tables (8 in the terrace garden). On the menu, dishes with a resolutely Minorcan character: rice with Iberian ham, roast eggplant and smoked sardines, fish of the day with asparagus... The place also houses a lounge where you can taste some very fine wines.

Although pizzas are the real stars of this gastro bar-pizzeria and are recommended, you'll find plenty more here. Salads, poke bowls, seafood, toast, cachopos and photo burgers, among other offerings, complete the menu of this welcoming establishment, with options at affordable prices. Located in the residential area of Cala en Blanes, just over 5 minutes from Ciutadella, the Impar gastro bar has a terrace and a set menu. An economical option for the hungry.

It's in the port of Maó that we find this fresh young address run by two passionate young entrepreneurs. The menu ranges from snacks and tapas (collectively known as "picoteo") to more elaborate dishes accompanied by sophisticated drinks and cocktails. Among the star dishes, the excellent black rice combined with meat or fish occupies pride of place. Desserts deserve a special place too! Friday and Saturday, it's music time!

Downstairs from the hotel of the same name, the Loar restaurant can seat up to 150 people and is open to non-residents of the hotel, which is rather good news given the excellent value for money of the cuisine served. Menorcan specialities are offered on the two menus (daily and special) as well as à la carte: oliaigo (local soup), albergínies farcides (stuffed eggplants ), calamar farcit (stuffed squid) and caldereta de llagosta (lobster stew). A warm, traditional, local address.
