28 reviews
Closed - Open to 08h00

The construction of this gigantic ministry was one of President François Mitterrand's major projects. Inaugurated in 1988, it consists of five buildings. The Colbert, Vauban and Necker buildings were designed by Paul Chemetov and Borja Huidobro, while the Sully and Turgot buildings are by Louis Arretche and Roman Karasinsky. Several hundred metres long, Colbert is the most extensive and ends on the banks of the Seine with two pillars spanning the quay, where ministers can take a river shuttle that takes them to the west of Paris. This building now houses several ministries. Located near the Bercy train station, it is often nicknamed as such.

The version of the bridge that can be observed today dates back to 1860. A first version was built here in 1833 under the reign of King Louis-Philippe, hence his name. Following the increase in traffic, construction was adapted and strengthened. It is used to connect Saint-Louis Island to Saint-Gervais, which is located behind the City Hall. Among the beautiful details are beautiful metal rosaces surrounded by stone crowns, they are located on the top of its four pillars.

Among the unknown treasures of Paris, you can find the splendid Cloître des Billettes, the only cloister of the medieval era that remains in the capital. The building takes its name from the order of the brothers of Charité de Notre-Dame, called "Ordre des Billettes", which later became Ordre des Carmes (Carmelite order). At that time, the monastery of the monks of the order was in the building. The cloister is noteworthy for the beauty and elegance of its vaults of typically flamboyant architecture. Nearby: The Hôtel de Ville de Paris, the BHV store, the Centre Georges Pompidou, the Hotel de Soubise, Rue des Archives and Rue des Blancs-Manteaux, Rue de Rivoli, La Samaritaine…

LA PLACE D'ITALIE

At the location of Italy Square was one of those barriers that were located around Paris before the capital remodeling carried out in 1860. In circular form (200 metres in diameter), it was created in a haussmann style during the following years. This is where the town hall of the 13 th arrondissement is located. In the 1960 s, its southern side underwent renovation, which saw the rise of towers and residential complexes. On the edge of this area, on the square, is the shopping centre Italy 2 in a building of 1991 designed by architect Kenzō Tange. It includes a huge film hall, named Grand Screen, which closed in 2006 and, after a 2016-year struggle, the reopening was accepted in the form of a "high quality public" entertainment and entertainment room.
