A place known from the Middle Ages for its tile factory (hence its name), this vast French-controlled garden is one of the favorite walks of the Parisians. Its perspective stretches from the Louvre courtyard to the Arc de Triomphe; Le Nôtre, the gardener of the Louis XIV, will arrange to place him at the same time at the Grand Canal of Versailles. The two pavilions facing the Place de la Concorde welcome exhibitions of painting or photography. This park offers a pleasant relaxing environment to pamper on these green chairs or wander through masterpieces of sculpture from ancient Egyptian to present. It's also a postcard decor for joggers!

CITÉ DES SCIENCES ET DE L’INDUSTRIE

Astronomy

The Cité des sciences et de l'industrie specializes in the dissemination and promotion of science and technology to the general public. Created on the initiative of President Giscard d'Estaing and inaugurated by François Mitterrand in 1986, it is located in the Parc de la Villette (a very pleasant place to visit, especially in fine weather) in the 19th arrondissement, close to the Porte de la Villette (underground parking lots easily accessible). The city is well known, of course, for the spectacularly designed Géode (although it's not actually part of the city), which houses an immersive cinema. Every two years, on even-numbered years around November 11, it also hosts the Rencontres du Ciel et de l'Espace (Sky and Space Encounters), a much-appreciated trade show for amateur astronomers who, over several days, meet up, enjoy lectures given by renowned astrophysicists, and discover all the latest in astronomical instruments (telescopes, accessories, observatory domes, software, etc.). In addition to the scientific areas on offer, a planetarium is also very active and above all equipped with a new ultra high-definition projection system (inaugurated in February 2017, to the 8K standard) with numerous sessions aimed at all audiences. The viewer's immersion is total, with no visible grain in the image and remarkable fluidity. Last but not least, there are regular, renowned temporary exhibitions.

Enfant, tonic, full of energy? The gym for toddlers could be a good outlet for him. After the course of the last six months, La Grange offers short, but intense, lessons for babies up to 18 months old. We are amused here with all the colours of the material, (rings, tunnels), and the child is very quick to be satisfied with being in a decor made in its dimensions and according to its tastes.

The solarium of this pool is quite limited, being confined to the area around the pools. But we particularly appreciate the vast sliding roof, which bathes the space in light, turning it into an open-air pool in fine weather. No greenery here, but don't worry! Surrounded by the towers of the 15th arrondissement, against a backdrop of blue skies, the setting is original. The youthful, friendly atmosphere also attracts sports enthusiasts. The large pool is Olympic-sized: 50 metres long, by 15 metres. A second 15-meter pool is available for younger children.

CLUB DE PLONGÉE ET D’APNÉE PCP

Scuba diving and snorkeling
5/5
3 reviews

A small club, founded in 1963, on a human scale but with no shortage of ideas or resources. Here, all technical levels are prepared, from levels 1 to 4 for amateur diving to Fédéral 1 for management. The courses, run by around ten instructors (from beginners to Fédéral 2), bring together around fifty members and take place at two sites, the Dauvin pool (18th) and the Mathis pool (19th). Nicolas Berthet, the club's current president, is also a teacher. Numerous sea outings are scheduled throughout the year to perfect your pool skills or simply discover extraordinary spots. The club also organizes day trips to a lake in Belgium. Several times during the season (except January and February), over a weekend, we offer the opportunity to discover the Mediterranean, an excellent training ground for all levels. Finally, around June, a major week-long outing takes members to an exceptional site (the Red Sea, the Caribbean, etc.) for leisure dives focused purely on pleasure. Other activities include biology courses (raising awareness of underwater flora and fauna). Last year also saw the introduction of single-fin and rebreather diving sessions. Last but not least, the first dive is offered free of charge!

PARC DES PRINCES

Stadium and sports complex
4.5/5
8 reviews

Located in the 16th district on the Paris ring road, Parc des Princes welcomes Paris-SG since 1974. Although opened for the first time on June 18th, 1897, it is in 1972 that the architect Roger Taillibert built the new wall instead of outdated stadium-cycle-racing track of Parc des Princes. This setting, considered by many as the noisiest stadium of the hexagon, was also the playground of the French team until the construction of the stade de France in 1998. The lawn of the Park welcomed two Euro in 1960 and 1984, a football world cup in 1998 and two of Rugby in 1991 and 2007. As for clubs, three finales of C1 were played here (1956, 1975.1981), two of C2 (1978, 1995) and one of the C3 (1998).

In order to make a beautiful reception with the Euro 2016, the Park renovated its enclosure: lawn, cloakroom, bench of touch. The seats also underwent a face lift since they raise from now on the colors of the French flag as well as the symbol of the Hexagon: the Eiffel Tower.

Inauguration: June 4th, 1972.

Capacity: 48,712 seats.

Crowds: 49,575 spectators on 2nd March, 1983 for Paris-SG- Watersheï in C2.
