This bus line serves Belize City, Independence and Punta Gorda. 4 daily departures for each of these cities. Take 3 hours from the Belize CIty Bus Terminal, and 2 h 45 to reach Punta Gorda in the south of the country.

You can get a car delivered from the company's headquarters in Placencia, use it and either bring it back there or get it back where you want it, anywhere in the country.

In short, everything there is to do on land in and around Stann Creek. The agency also offers an efficient car rental service from Dangriga, which is worth noting as there isn't much choice in this area in the town. The nearest agencies are in Hopkins.

It's an understatement to say that Hopkins isn't bursting at the seams with public transport traffic. A bus leaves for Dandriga Monday to Saturday at 7 a.m. and 2 p.m., and only at 2 p.m. on Sundays. If you want to reach Placencia, ask to stop at the intersection of the main road from Dandriga to Punta Gorda; from there, many buses run directly to Placencia or drop you off at Independence to catch the ferry. From Placencia, there is a direct bus to Dandriga via Hopkins at 10.30 am and 5.30 pm. Ask locally for timetables.

Several Ritchie's buses to Dandriga, Belmopan and Belize City leave the village every day by the road that goes up the peninsula and then reaches further along the main north-south axis. The James Linebuses that connect Belize City, Belmopan and Dandriga to Punta Gorda do not take the Peninsula Road but stop at Independence, on the other side of the lagoon: you must then take a ferry to make the short crossing. There is also a direct connection to Dandriga with Bebb Bus Line, which stops at Hopkins twice a day.

This is your best chance of reaching Placencia if you don't have a car and don't arrive by plane, as you won't find any direct buses.... What's more, it's the best way to reach the south coast from Placencia by bus, since all buses on the north-south route (Dandriga - Punta Gorda) stop at Independence. For some time now, Hokey Pokey has also been offering connections to Honduras, so it's best to contact the dock to find out about routes and timetables. Beware of seasickness!

The easiest way to reach Honduras, then Nicaragua and Panama by road. The ferry (that's a big word for this little boat) leaves Placencia every Friday for Puerto Cortes in Honduras. On Mondays, the boat returns from Honduras to Belize. The total duration of this boat trip is approximately 3 hours 30 minutes. If you're prone to motion sickness, you might be better off using Tropic Air's regular flights to Honduras.

Easy access on foot from your hotel or by cab. Buses run from dawn to early evening to Belmopan and Belize City, or the other way to Punta Gorga. For Hopkins, there is a direct service Monday to Saturday at 10.15 a.m. and 5.15 p.m.; Sundays only at 5.15 p.m. For Placencia, there's a Ritchi'es bus that takes the Peninsula route (so you don't have to take the ferry from Independence): departures at 11am, 2pm, 4:30pm and 6:15pm. Make sure you get all the information you need to avoid untimely changes.

10 daily trips in both directions Punta Gorda - Belize City (4 a.m. to 4 p.m.), Belize City - Punta Gorda (6.15 a.m. to 3.15 p.m.). Buses make stops at Independence (ferry to Placencia), Dangriga and Belmopan. You can also stop off at Cockscomb Wildlife Basin Sanctuary en route. Please note that the Express service departs Punta Gorda at 4am, 6am and 3pm and Belize City at 5.15am, 12.15pm and 3.45pm. The buses are in excellent condition, and the drivers are careful and punctual, guaranteeing a worry-free journey.

Meet around 10 a.m. in front of the Island Breeze bar & grill, at the corner of the beach bordering the river, and ask about the boats to Tobacco Caye in about 45 minutes. You may have to wait a while for enough passengers to make the trip, or compensate for their absence by paying a few extra dollars. The service is professional and fairly well organized, and most of the captains are from the same family and have known each other all their lives, so you're guaranteed to help each other out if there's a problem starting up the boats.

Her site is also full of ideas for motorcycle tours. Your French driving license is sufficient to drive a motorcycle in Belize (365 days validity). However, for insurance reasons, you cannot leave the country with a motorcycle rented here.

It's the only agency in Hopkins offering such a wide choice of all-terrain vehicles, sedans and even minivans, ideal for a family trip. The agency even offers the possibility of leaving the vehicle in another city (for an extra charge, of course) at the end of the rental period. Renting in Hopkins means you don't have to worry about a car while you're at the beach, as Hopkins isn't very big and can be explored on foot.

The Swedish Emma Cases is the passionate owner of this facility offering the rental of buggys and golf cars to move to Hopkins only. You must rent the vehicle at least for 2 hours and can be deposited at your hotel free of charge. Practical and fun. 

This small family business is the most professional water cab company in Guatemala (Puerto Barrios).
