5/5
1 review

Located at an altitude of 3,300 metres, the Rama Valley is renowned for its wild flowers, pine, oak, cedar, juniper and cedar forests, and its rare medicinal plants, which grow abundantly.

Visitors can admire its lake, surrounded by mountains, including Nanga Parbat, the "killer mountain" that lights up when the sun sets.

The valley is home to snow leopards, musk deer and ibex.

KACHURA LAKE

Natural site to discover

Kachura Lake is divided into an "upper" and a "lower" part. The latter is also known as Lake Shangrila, where there is a hotel complex. The upper lake is accessible only by foot, which makes it less frequented and more wild. It is surrounded by subalpine fauna and wild apricot trees. The less chilly can swim in clear water that does not exceed 15 degrees. The lower lake is part of the Shangrila complex and is about 20 minutes from Skardu.

SATPARA LAKE

Natural site to discover

The locals say that the lake water shines so brightly thanks to a gold mine at the bottom. Lake Satpara rises to over 2,600 metres and extends 2.5 kilometres in the middle of the mountains. It is thanks to him that the city of Skardu is supplied with water. It is possible to take a small boat to reach the island in the middle, a perfect place for a picnic (but very sunny).
