IDITAROD TRAIL SLED DOG RACE
Go there and contact
Simply the most legendary dog sledding race in the world. It takes place between Anchorage and Nome, in the far west of Alaska, over 938 miles, or 1,510 km.
The start is the first Saturday in March and the race lasts 8 to 15 days, depending on the year and the crew. It can even last three weeks. She is over 40 years old: the first one was in 1973. It is an opportunity to see beautiful dogs - the teams have 16 dogs at the start and at least 6 at the finish - and to greet large mushers. This race commemorates the achievement of the teams that brought the diphtheria vaccine in 1925; the dog Balto became famous on that occasion. Meet in Anchorage Downtown, at the corner of 4th Street for the departure at 10:00 a. m.! The route of the race is indicated on the site, but of course we cannot know in advance when the dogs will pass.
