A bohemian, slightly nerdy bar, probably the most German-Pratin of Recife's bars. Filmmaker Kleber Mendoça Filho, director of Bacurau, son of Recife, the new capital of Brazilian cinema, makes a few appearances here to meet friends. The look is at once sober, kitsch and family-friendly, with red skai chairs. The walls feature a few black-and-white photos of the Recife of yesteryear. The menu offers well-crafted dishes and good cocktails. Vegans and vegetarians are welcome. A relaxed and welcoming Brazilian bar that we love.

Bar do Amparo is a beautiful establishment in the upper town of Olinda. Behind the purple-tinted storefront, the bar has preserved its traditional earthen interior decorations. The atmosphere is bohemian, colorful and sophisticated. The petiscos are excellent. The dishes are equally worthy of the place. After the dadinho de tapioca, you must try the shrimps with lemon or the carne do sol with manioc purée. The bar is very popular in Olinda, and on some evenings - the price of success - it's hard to find a seat. Waiting is part of the atmosphere.

As in Rio, the carnival exists before and after the carnival. Outside of carnival, you can also enjoy the entertainment of one of the most traditional carnival groups in the Northeast. The Galo da Madrugada is a "bloco" or carnival group created in 1978. The group provides entertainment every Thursday in its headquarters with traditional music groups from Pernambuco, such as frevo, maracatu and regional folklore. A good option to vibrate to the rhythms of Pernambuco. Its carnival outings are followed by millions of people.

On the corner of Praça do Carmo and São Pedro, the Casbah Mourisco bar and pub is located on the first floor of a large Moorish-style house in Olinda. In recent years, it has become a meeting point for tourists and trendy locals alike. In the large and very pleasant "Casbah" courtyard, you can sample traditional dishes for lunch, in buffet form. Throughout the day and well into the night, sweet and savory snacks (petiscos) and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are served. A fine address.
