Discover le Pas-de-Calais
The Pas-de-Calais département, which takes its name from Pas de Calais, the strait separating it from England, was created by grouping together Artois and a former part of Picardy, which lies towards the coast. The two areas are therefore very different. Discover Arras, its capital, a former cloth-making city with its majestic Place des Héros. Stop off at Lens and its Louvre museum. And don't miss the World War II Museum near Saint-Omer, housed in an impressive bunker. But Pas-de-Calais is also the Côte d'Opale, with its must-see seaside resorts such as the very chic Touquet-Paris-Plage, Berck, a famous sand yachting spot, and the magnificent cliffs of Cap Gris-Nez and Cap Blanc-Nez, which attract over two million visitors a year. Last but not least, Boulogne-sur-Mer is home to Europe's largest aquarium. In short, there's so much to discover!
