NATIONAL GALLERY
Read moreThe National Gallery in Harare was established in 1957 from a collection of European works to which African works were added. Sculptures are displayed inside and in the gardens; paintings and a multitude of African art objects are found on the ground and upper floors. The visit is as interesting as it is instructive, revealing some of the lesser-known aspects of African traditions. The gallery also organizes numerous workshops, films, lectures and hosts temporary exhibitions throughout the year.
EPWORTH BALANCING ROCKS
Read moreThese Balancing Rocks are the most famous in Zimbabwe along with those in the Matopos Mountains National Park. It is an interesting geological site, even appearing on the bond bills issued by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe. The site also hosts some rock paintings, but for these, it is better to choose Domboshawa. Our advice is to avoid the complete visit if you go to the Matopos site, the latter is more impressive. On the other hand, the site can offer a pleasant half-day escape at the gates of the capital.
