Go and discover this traditional family restaurant, installed under a palapa (palm roof) a few kilometres outside the village. It serves a cuisine inspired by the Tontoac gastronomy, with herbs and plants very original for our palates. The bread is baked in a clay oven. As close as possible to the traditional culture, the place organizes traditional steam baths(temazcal) on Fridays and Saturdays (reservation required).

In an old wooden house, we enter not only another time, but also a new culinary proposal. It is a very, very nice surprise to discover this local flavour with a contemporary touch, which is also reflected in the presentation of the plates. The menu? Precise and varied, since for starters there is an original aguachile de pulpo and a salpicon de venado (venison). We leave you the surprise for the dishes..

God, it's good... How can I describe this grouper, octopus, sprouted seeds, crispy banana and avocado? The eyes close and we prefer to think of something else... But then your taste buds remember the tostadas de pejelagarto and you regret not going back to taste other preparations that follow traditional recipes. This restaurant is also the place to go for fresh oysters by the dozen. Cevicheria is so successful that it has a second location in Villahermosa.

Here is a superb little restaurant, with subdued lights, which exhibits on its walls and offers on the plate the best and most original dishes in Orizaba. In addition to the Mexican flavours found in the tacos, there are empanadas from Argentina and kushiages from the Land of the Rising Sun, salads and soups, as well as well-prepared tuna, salmon and beef dishes. A refreshing menu, a change from what we are used to seeing. The patio, with its beautiful fountain, is very relaxing.

This is a pleasant little restaurant that is very bright during the day, serving Mediterranean and/or Mexican cuisine, frank and without superfluous pretensions. Its small dishes have been delighting the palates of Xalapa for a good ten years already (the place opened in 2008), without any loss of quality or creativity. Every day, between 2pm and 5pm, a daily menu is offered at a very attractive price. Interesting if you don't mind eating out of order! Nice decor for one of the best tables in the region.

An open terrace on the edge of the estuary. Jorge participates every year in the world record of the fish fillet stuffed with seafood. Very pleasant place, the by the waves of waves and typical Veracruz music, jarocha. Recommended: Crevettes and, if you are several, a nice plateau plateau of the sea.

This is a very good restaurant, with several locations in the area (all equally popular). The place specializes in grilled meats, ideal for lovers of juicy and tender meats. There are plenty of options: arracheras, picanha de las favelas, tacos, cecina, burgers and a black bean cheese dish. The restaurant itself doesn't have much charm, the atmosphere is mostly casual and you go there with your family. A great classic though, for the quality of the meats.
