Means of transport Pacific Coast

While waiting for the construction of the highway planned since a few years, it is unfortunately rather constraining to join by the road the Pacific coast from Oaxaca. Fortunately, this airline company is very practical to avoid hours and hours of bus on very winding mountain roads... It offers flights to Puerto Escondido and Huatulco (40 minutes). Be careful, the planes are very small, and the turbulences are felt when the weather is not clear. You are warned!

Zihuatanejo is located on Mexico's Pacific coast. It offers magnificent white sand beaches and turquoise waters, making it a popular destination for tourists. To get to Zihuatanejo, you can fly with Aerolitoral. The company's website offers a wide range of destinations, including Zihuatanejo, as well as the option of booking and purchasing tickets online. To make the most of your flight, we recommend you travel light, taking only a small piece of hand luggage. It's also important to check current regulations before you leave, as these can change frequently. Finally, it is advisable to stay hydrated during the flight by drinking water regularly.

Several airlines operate from Oaxaca Airport, including Aeromexico, Vivaaerobus Volaris, for domestic destinations. United Epress and American Eagle offer flights to the USA (Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles and Houston), and Aerotucan to the Pacific coast. When you leave the airport, go to the ticket office of one of the companies offering collectivos to the city centre. This is the fastest and cheapest way to get to your hotel.

From this small terminal, minibuses leave for Puerto Escondido, taking the most direct and mountainous road. The landscapes are superb and sometimes vertiginous, the whole thing is all curves and the speed doesn't improve things... Expect the minibus to make many stops throughout the day, even if it means taking passengers when there is not really any free seat left. We tighten a little, and that passes!

This is the nicest side of the lake, where the boats are only used by the inhabitants of the islands of Yunuen, Pacanda and Tecuena. Don't insist, we won't give you the price of the inhabitants... The advantage is that you can decide how much time you want to spend on each island (usually 45 minutes to 1 hour to go around the Pacanda) and a little longer if you want to have breakfast or lunch in Yunuen at one of the fish restaurants around (prior reservation required during the week).

This is where most of the boats depart for Janitzio, which is quiet on weekdays and crowded on weekends, vacations and the Feast of the Dead. The crossing takes about twenty-five minutes. From here, you can also take boats to visit the islands of Yuñuen and La Pacanda, although the pier on the other side of the lake is quieter and allows you to spend less time on the boat. Just 5 minutes away is the San Pedrito pier (calle Las Americas), which also serves Janitzio.

If you want to cross the U.S. border. Remember that it is forbidden to carry raw meat, agricultural products, arms and drugs. For Dallas (24 hours drive), Houston (24 hours), San Antonio (18 hours). All buses leave at 15 pm.

Flights every day for the D.F.

La Alameda de León is a charming park located next to the central square (Zócalo) of the city of Oaxaca. Once a potters' market, it was transformed into a garden in 1840 thanks to the idea of Governor Antonio de León and his secretary Benito Juárez. The park was inaugurated in 1843 and named in honor of its founder. In 1885, a statue of General Antonio de León, defender of the homeland, was erected in the park. Recently refurbished, the park has been restored to its original appearance and offers magnificent views of the cathedral and other surrounding buildings.

The airport that serves Puerto Escondido is only a 10 minute drive from the center and the beach. It operates regular flights to Mexico City and Guadalajara with Vivaaerobus, Volaris, Aeroméxico and Aeromar. It is also the departure point for Aerotucan's small planes to Oaxaca. It is possible to arrive at the nearby Huatulco airport which is served by more airlines and then take a bus to Puerto Escondido.
