Read moreThe history of the municipal building has not always been a long and quiet one. In the Middle Ages, the building serving as the town hall was located in Rue de l'Ecole. In 1611, it fell prey to a fire caused by the explosion of a gunpowder reserve. The fire destroyed many documents, including the archives of the castle of Nerac. It was rebuilt with a belfry and a bell to alert in case of other disasters. Restored by the city, the building has been listed as a historical monument since 2008. The current town hall is located at Place du Général de Gaulle.
