ASSOCIATION D'ÉLEVEURS DE CHEVAUX MINORQUINS
Read morePurebred Menorcan horses and the island of Menorca form an inseparable pair. It is impossible to understand the island without these thoroughbreds. The presence of these animals is part of the lifestyle and the typical landscape of the island. The famous "Camí de Cavalls" (Horse Trail) has been an evidence of the importance of this animal in the territory for centuries. Beyond the historical aspect, the horse was once used as a means of transport between small villages, and from a more agricultural point of view it had a mission in the farms. Even today, there is a strong link with the local festivals and traditions, since the Middle Ages. In almost all the festivities in Menorca, the Menorcan horses are considered the most important attraction of each event, and their presence as the main actors of the celebration is revered! With its morphology and very particular physical constitution (slender but resistant figure, fine extremities, jet black color), the Menorcan thoroughbred is characterized by a good character. It is unanimously accepted by riders and has a great capacity to adapt to all types of dressage, an aptitude worthy of high schools that can be appreciated during a visit to the main farms on the island, where this breed is raised with passion, in conditions of freedom and healthy food.
